Hey guys so I was driving this morning everything was fine with the car no difference all of a sudden I start smelling coolant so I kept my eye close on the gauge and I noticed that it started creeping up and went past the middle not all the way to you know the overheat it top part but it did go over the middle Level on the gauge.I pulled over turned off the car and I noticed some smoke coming from the engine block I guess the back portion by where the AC hoses are I also looked under the car and noticed that there was a coolant leaking from the bottom of the car.

I haven’t started the car back up getting it towed to my shop but any idea what this could have been. I drive the car last night parked her up wit no issues this started this morning I’m little worried but the good thing is as soon the gauge want over the normal area I turned her off.

Forgot to mentioned there was some coolant splashed on top engine and I can see coolant dripping from bottom area

Check the heater hose on passenger side between firewall and engine. The plastic most likely broke.

^^^ yeah , most likely, as that happened to mine as well...the connector is a less than 15 dollar piece, but getting it out and new one in can be tricky, but def doable...just a little time etc- good luck

hey thanks for reply...so when I look there I don’t see the yellow plastic thingy and noticed it looks wet. Will the dealer have this part? Do you know name of it or do I have to get a new heater hose?

Ok got it to the shop definitely looks like it’s the connector that’s joins the 2 hoses because the hoses are loose dangling. On my way to thedealer hopefully they have it.

DO NOT GO TO THE DEALER! Even if they have the coupling in stock it will still be a flimsy piece of plastic crap that will be overpriced to begin with.

Just go to any auto parts shop (O'Reilly, AutoZone, etc.) and get a METAL 3/4" hose coupling (Dorman p/n: 56430). You could even go to Home Depot or Lowe's and get a brass or stainless steel one if you wanted and still be cheaper than the OEM plastic part.

Just stay away from the plastic garbage!

hey bro thanks What part number should I give them at AutoZone or Pep Boys that’s what I got near me and how about the hoses does anybody know what size hoses those are or is there a part number for them will they be able to pull it up just by my car make model at the discount store? Should i get coolant too?

Dorman p/n: 56430 3/4" heater hose coupling

Replacing the hoses depends on age/condition of your current hoses and how much money & work you want to put into this project. IIRC, your car is a 2010? Ten, eleven year old hoses- most would recommend replacing them. If it were me, I would/will eventually replace all of my hoses with silicone. Again, that is a judgement call only you can make.

Any competent shop can pull the right part numbers from their catalog. Whether they have those parts in stock is a different question.

And, yes, you will need coolant replace what has leaked out.

awesome bro yea think will be good idea 10 yrs I’ve had it totally overlooked this part. Should I get hoses from auto discount store how would I know the size ? I’ve called up autozone and advance for the coupler and they don’t carry them it has to be ordered. Also noticed the aftermarket does not have a bleeder is that a issue?

If time is not a issue- and if it were my car- here is what I would suggest/recommend:

Z1Motorsports- Silicone Hose Set
Z1Motorsports Hose Coupling

You can get both for ≈$76 and will last the life of the car.

Having the bleeder valve makes things a little easier but it is not a "must have deal breaker."

I ended up buying the factory coupler and hoses @dealer. Hey the old ones lasted 10 yrs so will take my chances because I couldn’t get the aftermarket ones at any discount store but it all seems good now thanks guys appreciate it. I couldn’t wait either so no choice but the car is good as new again.

The garbage stock coupler will probably last at least 60K miles, YMMV obviously. Mine failed around 80K.

But Nissan won't tell their owners to replace it around 60K, because they enjoy seeing their owner stranded on the road.

My wife's car also started leaking in the same spot yesterday. Will go pick up one of the above mentioned connectors today. Much appreciated.
