What did you do to it? Did you sand it?

Deadging

Hey, I did not sand it, I used a sponge with the abrasive side to remove the remaining particles of debadging.

It doesn't look like you reached bare metal through the picture. Try using a compound, like Meguiar's Ultimate Compound. It's a good one-step product that might be able to smooth out the surface to a shine.

That's where you went wrong. It looks like you removed the clear coat. You may be able to get away with a good spray of clear coat but no clue how well that will blend in. Good luck.

If your plan is to do the rest of the badges/emblems then pick up some adhesive remover from an auto parts store. Or you can use rubbing alcohol. I've done both. Lightly clean the area off after the removal of the badges to get any dirt or grime out of the way as to not rub that into your paint when you go for the adhesive removal. Then use a micro fiber cloth, old t shirt or similar with the adhesive remover and rub away. They also make a plastic razor blade looking scraper that has worked well for me. If it helps you feel any better, years ago as a teen my mom told me to clean the love bugs off the front of her car. Aaaaaaaand I used a sponge on the abrasive side...…..looked great until the car dried. Then the whole front of her car was missing the clear coat. Bright side is she never told me to clean her car again. Oops

Lets call this a lesson learned. You sanded the car by using the abrasive side. You may be able to save it by actually sanding more. Go grab some 500, 1000, 1500, 2000, and 2500 wet sand paper. Once you use each then hit it with some compound then polish.

Next time just get some goo gone to remove the adhesive. Even lighter fluid will work to remove the sticky.

Yeah you need high grit sandpaper and compound and polish. Might be able to save it...
