Quarantine Projects

For those of us staying at home while the world burns, what projects are you taking on with the car?

I've been going over the car one panel at a time... wash, clay, seal and top-coat with product I've recently been infatuated with: https://www.myg37.com/forums/car-car...oss-sauce.html

How about you?

Wrapping my center console, dash, headliner, pillars, visors, guage/steering housing etc. in black leather. My house smells amazing. Can’t wait until my car smells like that.

What's the smell? The adhesive or the leather?

That's quite a big project. I don't think I've ever read about anyone wrapping all their plastics with leather.

Gonna finally pull the front end off, reseal the headlights, put on my sport bumper and lip. Also took apart my center console to replace the screen with a high-res one for my Android Auto project. It's great knowing I don't have to have the car all put back together to go work in the morning

That's something I've always danced around with, in consideration of a long-tube intake, or a headlight project.

If you want to dive into a solid, step-by-step DIY tutorial on removing the front bumper on a Sedan... that would be a welcome thread.

The weather has been crappy here and I have my outside water turned off. I'd love to start by giving it a proper detail. I think I will have to give it a few more weeks before I can do that.

Other plans:
- LED reverse lights / LED turn signal module (both need to be ordered)
- Sport rear spoiler install
- setup a time to do PDR and tint the windows
- continue to source other parts (Wheels/Tires/RJM/Tanabe/Impul Springs)

The leather! Lol. Here is my thread...

https://www.myg37.com/forums/body-in...ibrations.html

It doesn’t seem like many people care for what I’m doing since rarely does someone chime in but aye, to each their own. Check it out, I have some pics in there and many more to come!

I lurk without commenting a lot too (believe it or not).

Think it might be time to pull the front bumper, engineer long tubes, refinish and paint headlights, install projector fog lights, and the sport lip.

Actually - first will be an oil change and install of the sensor for the oil pressure gauge.

Anyone know where I can get OEM headliner material? I need to recover the driver's a pillar after installing the gauge pod.

I'm still working being I am in an "essential" field, so my projects are still evening and weekend stuff. I've still been getting more done to my 3000GT though. I've put 500 miles on it since I put it together so I did an engine and trans oil change over the weekend.

I probably won't be driving it much in the coming weeks though with the "stay at home" order going on. While I am an essential worker I don't want to get pulled over in a car that is currently like 4 colors and doesn't currently have seatbelts or an airbag installed.

For anyone who's wondering, auto repair shops are considered an essential business, according to the stay-at-home rule here in NY.
