Advice needed: Value as a 'parts car'?
Hey Everyone,
Long story short, the entire rear subframe on my 2009 X sedan has rusted out (thanks Atlantic Canada). Due to the potential of finding other issues if my preferred repair shop starts pulling things apart, I've sadly determined the car won't be getting repaired. To make back any kind of money, I think it'll be best to try and sell the car for parts on my local listing website. Other than the rusted frame, the car is in great condition. Interior is great, engine is great (as far as i'm aware), only has 140,000 km on the clock and has been meticulously maintained in my 5 year ownership (barring the rust obviously). What kind of $ (CAD) should I be asking for the car as a whole? Unfortunately I don't have the space, tools or technical know-how to start parting stuff out myself.
Any advice on this issue would be greatly appreciated! Also if anyone else has other opinions on possible options, that would also be appreciated!

If you want to have a car taking up space on your property for a long time (can take years sometimes), while you look at it everyday and see the progress of how many guys pulled your girl apart and then the sad feelings flowing through then do it. If it's just the subframe that is rusted, you can practically do it at home if you have good enough jacks, the sub-frame replacement, and decent tools. I don't understand why you'd want to get rid of the car for such an easy fix that can make you enjoy your Gs for many years. A brand new one costs about $800 dollars. Buy it, install it, apply protectant on it and other parts, enjoy the car for more. You repair shop doesn't want to do the job because they're lazy and it requires a couple of hands on deck if you're doing it on the lift. Just buy the necessary tools, read the DIYs here, and tackle it. You'd be saving yourself much headaches and financial burdens if you just fix it.
