Best Year G37 Sedan or Q40?
Hey guys, I'm new to this forum. I am thinking of buying a G37 or Q40 before year end. I just wanted to know if any model year stick out over others whether it's a G37 sedan or Q40 (vs G37's). I've owned a Maxima and RL and noticed that some model years have more bugs or issues than others (such as 99 Max ignition coil problem or 05-06 RL propeller shaft whine). Thanks in advance for the input.

Apples to Apples, if you can find the same miles 2013 G37x, you'll get the same car for less, with backup sensors most likely. I traveled from Chicago to Rochester, NY to buy mine, and it was SOOO worth the trip. Saved a couple thousand dollars even after travel expenses, for a nearly new condition 2013 G37x with 39k miles. Everybody in the Chicago and surrounding area were SELLING similar cars between $19-20k, not in the same condition. I got mine for $16,800, the deals are out there but you have to be willing to travel and be patient, I looked for months before jumping on this one.
I'm new to these cars so can't speak of the major differences between the G37 and Q40, but the first thing that jumped out at me were backup sensors and price of the vehicle.

Thanks guys, yeah the G37 does have the backup sensors and seat memory over the Q40. I didn't know about the pre 2012 oil gasket though.
That being said, USNews Car Reviews gives the '12 G37 2.5 stars reliability, the Q40 3 stars, but the '13 G37 4.5 stars (out of 5 stars). They don't list any specifics for that stat though. So that's why I wanted to get actual G37/Q40 owners/enthusiasts takes on if one year had any more bugs or gremlins over another.

2013 was the last year for the RWD Sport Package on the Journey, and the last year for the 6MT Sedan. Without the RWD Sport Package, the G is mushy in stock trim. Not a whole lot of fun to drive.
The Q40 never should have happened, IMO.

Exactly, I have a 2012xS with 80,000 miles, zero issues. BTW I also have a 2003 G35 with 270,000 with very few minor issues - still drive every day.

This is a tough question to answer. I actually like the look of the 09 sport front bumper. I'm a tad bit bias as I do have the sport lip which also adds to it's appeal, but I will say I really do want to do the conversation to the facelift sport bumper one day. The one thing I couldn't get behind personally (no hate on those who love them) was the gauge cluster color scheme on the newer models. It's just lacks the depth without the red needle and also I notice that the blue accent ring isn't a flare style, its more of an actual ring (see photo references below). The newer years seems to have addressed some of the issues from earlier models, but regardless the car is extremely reliable and aside from minor details, its the same VQ37VHR beast under the hood.
Good Luck with your hunt/purchase, i'm sure you'll enjoy it!

Only thing pre-fresh models had that I prefer is black dash/steering wheel for lighter interiors. That front end is for the birds...
Short answer: 2013, obvious reasons
