Big Feature Changes in 2018 Q50/Q60
TL;DR On 2018 Q50/Q60 3.0t sport (not Red sport),you no longer get many features that came with any G37/Q50 prior to 2018, including heated front seat, paddle shifter, Akebono BBK, power tilt steering, etc. All these are now in their packages which would cost up to $10k more.
The 3.0t sport is only $1700 more than 3.0t LUXE (or based 3.0t), where it used to be $5k more on G37 vs G37s.
In order to get heated front seats, you will have to pay $2500 to get Essential Package. It includes NAV, voice recognition, fold seat, remote engine start, heated steering wheel, heated front seat. YOU HAVE TO GET ALL OF THEM IN THE PACKAGE.
In order to get Paddle shifters, you will have to pay $1500 to get Performance Package. It also includes Dynamic suspension and akebono brake calipers. (I think this is the one everyone should get tho)
In order to get Power tilt steering, you will have to get Sensory Package for $2650, it includes a lot of sensors of course.
And in Proactive package, you get many safety features for $2700.
To add all these packages, thats $9350.
2018 Q50 3.0t sport, MSRP $40650 + 9350=50000
2018 Q50 Red sport, MSRP $51000
So if you need all of these, and want a 3.0t sport, you better just get the red sport 400 instead, RS400 standard on all these packages and it has 100 more horsepower.
BUT, its 2017, tell me what luxury car does not have heated/memory seat and power tilt steering standard on based model? a $20k civic has front and back seat heated!!
I understand they have to sell in packages to get more money, but come on, its luxury brand, you are supposed to get many luxury features standard.
I remember that many years ago for G37, there were only couple packages like NAV and sports apperance, everything else are standard. It is not the case anymore. So disappointed, my next car most likely won't be infiniti if I want brand new. I will see how the used market look in 4-5 years on these cars.
Here is the detail, compare them. https://www.infinitiusa.com/sedan/q50/models-specs.html

I understand this package thing, but there are some things like heated front seat, and memory seat, that distinguishes luxury from low-end, and they should be standard. Especially the bbk for the sport model, you get way more from the sport on G37 then from the new Q50 3.0t sport.
Also, I have not confirmed but the base 2.0t Q50 will not even have leather seat standard, I don't see it in the list, really? for $34k? you get leather heated powered seat on a 25k accord, which makes 179 horsepower comparing to 208 on the 2.0t.
2018 is the 5th year of the Q50, they most likely be the second last year for a redesign. I will see how it goes in 2020 when I will need a new car by then.

I really want to like the RS, I do, but it's just missing something. I like driving cars that I look forward to getting into. The G gets me giddy every time I fire it up. It's just that touch of rawness that does the trick; main reason why I didn't get any of the AT updates.
The RS5 seems to be a possibility in the future. Just looks and sounds meaner than anything Infiniti or Lexus is putting out in that range. BMW just isn't for me and the MB might be a little too refined...We will see, I could be completely off the mark and love the way the Volvo polestar drives.

Kind of crazy since Volvo use to be synonymous with safety and reliability. TBH Infiniti RS400s are shockingly the cause for that. See them all the time listed for $35-40k with 10-15k miles on them and think it's too good to be true until I see the "Lemon" report.
I'm, at heart, an American car enthusiast and the reason the G spoke to me was because it gave me a lot of brash American car qualities while being rock solid in reliability and offering luxury components. Now that the brand has been refined so much it just doesn't appeal to me as much as the G.

I was under the impression that there were certain update(s) to improve the speed of shifting. Is there a list of all trans updates that include mention of what specifically they 'improve'?
