It's my understanding that the shifts aren't sped up (req. tune) but smoothed out and 'DS' mode is neutered. Some guys have reported that their manual mode doesn't even work anymore. With that, some guys have said they absolutely love it.

My car now is jerky but it will drop its booty in heartbeat and rip if I ask it to. Shifting in manual mode is really jerky 1-3 and if I shift earlier than 3k RPMS for 4-7 while keeping on the gas the car shudders a bit. If I drive it in DS mode the thing acts possessed and will rev itself out willingly.

In my opinion, I'd rather have an aggressive acting transmission than one that's on the lazy side just for smoothness sake.

Absolutely!

My 7AT is quite cranky all the time... I suppose that the TSB has not been applied, and I kind of like it that way, and I can say that the only lag I feel is between 4 to 5th gear and at the 2-4k rpms.

Anyway, I also have had the chance of driving a few Qs, and I'll take my G over it every time.

Now, if we could just figure out how to swap the manual tranny and awd from an older GT-R to the Gx....

You can search the build threads but someone did a full swap lol. I don't know the specifics but it's quite a read.

If I mess with anything, it will be when I get the thing tuned. Hopefully next year. I'll also be re-doing my grounding kit and driving without it for a month or two so I can really see if there's a difference or not.

thats actually pretty cheap though, just swap any other engine in with a manual, will cost you less than 15k, then you sell the stock engine for a few thousand.

We were spoiled by all the standard features. Infiniti is doing what any luxury car makers do. Make you pay for options.
Name 1 german brand that give you standard things? Porsche is notorious for making you pay for every little thing.

I think(believe) you are just trolling. It's a very complex swap. Let me just swap in a RB26 in my infiniti

I believe something similar has been done. Did not look cheap or easy.

Edit - Can confirm. Does not look like something you do in an afternoon before you can finish a 12-pack.

I can't look away from the used market.... $50K is a current body M3 or C63 with a warranty and less depreciation.... $25K is a used 335i ready for mods

there is reason they depreciate that much. There are things that last 100k miles on Japanese cars but break 20k on German cars. People who buy used German performance car usually just do it once in their life. Because you won't know the cost until you actually tried

BMWs and Infinitis depreciate at about the same rates. And my buddy just bought a 228i after a couple of years with a GTI.

I like the new Q's, but i wouldn't buy one til they were a good value. Let some lease holder get the depreciation. I don't know what my next car will be, I have had my car less than a year. I might even go Tesla. I am glad they made a smaller car. Love the instant acceleration.

I missed out on the solar tile roof by a few years. I hear that their shingles are less expensive than regular material, no doubt more expensive to install. I don't drive that much in a day. Wish I hadn't needed a roof in 2014. Would be awesome to never pay for gas or electricity. I am sure that the Model 3s will be faster and better as they go along.
