$300 a month on a 60 year loan would only be $18,000, still like $5,000 off from even financing a new Civic. Even at 84 months that would only be $25,000. It's crazy how much you need to pay monthly for a car now.

I'm assuming you mean 60 MONTH loan. Yeah, I'm the 'tell me you have never owned a new car without telling me you've never owned a new car'. And I've owned... lessee... not including parts/race cars... 14 cars (DDs) including the G37. Over a 35 year driving history.

Wife's CX5 was bought new in 2014 at 23K - hers were about 450 IIRC.

Nice tags!

There's a lot going on there. Special badging, carbon fiber, diffuser, quad tips, pin-stripe, wing-in-your-face.

Can that wing be detached for daily driving, and reattached for driving events? Or are you just flat out all the time?

I'm kinda digging it. It's hard to do subtle with a WRX/STi, so the SendIt mentality seems to work better.

There's another dad I see in school pickup line with a blacked out modded STi - he tried to be subtle (wingectomy, debadging) but his is about as loud as my G. Another vet too - always trade thumbs-up in passing.

I just wanted to show the new plates, but I agree that the pink stripe and the badging are a bit much for me. I prefer a car more understated and have thought many times about simplifying the back end. The Subaru guys want to hang me for changing the ultra rare Type RA, but in the end it's not their car. Surprisingly, the wing is more subdued than the factory wing and the narrower profile makes it easier to see out the back window. You could remove the wing pretty easily, but it would look stupid with just the uprights. More importantly, you can change the angle of the wing to provide even more downforce on more technical tracks so it is completely functional as well.

Thanks. I also think it is difficult to have a subtle STI, but I am trying to keep this car quiet since you can already see it from a mile away with the gold rims in the summer.

I agree it looks like there is too much badging there. I think I would remove the Subaru and STi badging leaving only the bottom row of badging. Remove the AWD badge as well, kind of obvious its AWD....

Sweet plates!

Thanks! I think the Subaru letters are redundant with the stars right above it and who cares about an AWD badge? So I was thinking of removing the badges on the left, moving the STI badge to the left side, and peeling off the pink sticker to simplify the back end a bit. Then again, I don't spend too much time looking at the back of the car, if you know what I mean.

Agreed. Ditch the Subaru and AWD badges, because captain obvious. And get rid of the pink stripe.

The wing is what it is, balling but functional on a car like this.

I think you and I both have an eye for simplicity and symmetry. The symmetry is why I was thinking of ditching the badges on the left to move the STI badge over there at the same height as the Type RA badge on the right. (Maybe I would move them up a touch) Or would you leave the STI and Type RA badges alone on the right (knowing it is asymmetrical with the left side)?

Leave the STi and RA badges where they are for now, and come back to the project another day. You don't have to do everything at the same time. But yeah, the other two can go.

I'd say just leave the Stars and the RA badge - everything else is obvious labeling (with that wing, it can't NOT be an STI).

That's funny I was starting to think the same thing about the STI and RA badges. I was trying to picture them up at the top of the trunk on opposite sides or in nearly original height on opposite sides, but it just did not look right in my mind. Don't worry, nothing is being peeled off the back for a while with this cold.
