Seriously considering getting a 22 stinger w the 2.5 turbo, awd. From a practicality perspective it has lots of space, awd, reasonably good modern conveniences, reasonable mpg 21/29, no sunroof, marginally fast. They say the rwd does 0-60 in 5.2s, expect awd to be slower (still under 6?). 300Hp/311 lb ft torque. Sort of like a g37x with more room interior room and trunk space. With some better tires and sway bars should handle better too. The car is rwd biased so some fun factor there.
The 6 cyl model is temping but is such overkill for 95% of my typical use. Much poorer gas mileage (17/24), more costlier to insure too. $55K+ vs ~$38K. If I ever want a true speed machine I'll get another bike.

I am not a fan of the styling at all, but the engine sounds like it is easy to tune if you want a bit more power. I had a friend who said he loved his, and then proceeded to trade it in immediately for an Alfa Romeo Giulia.

I think that's Mountain Dew green for the newest generation that has disposable income, whatever generation that may be.
There's something classic about BRG especially on tan leather... the early Z1 corvettes in that combo were just gorgeous, and I don't much like 'vettes newer than 72 or so.
Edited to add: Miss this bugger. BRG on black, was an awesome car, but needed BMW money for maintenance (as in, replace supercharger at 50k miles by design). Still, trying to encourage the wife to get another one now that our little is a medium and can handle doors herself.

You know I have driven a lot of these Mini Cooper S models over the years and came pretty close to buying one. (I think the latest version of the Italian Job got me interested a while ago.) I love the small design and attention to detail with the toggle switches on the dash. However, they never seemed to provide a very good value for the dollar compared to a lot of other cars- especially the latest special edition. On the flip side of that coin, it is pretty easy to go too far in the other direction. The Camaro SS 1LE comes to mind. Huge performance for not a lot of money, but you sure feel it in the lack of quality and sightlines once you get inside.
I got it used, for $12k, for a Christmas present for the wife. We did some reliability mods and it was a great car until the warranty ended at 48k and stuff that was labelled as 'nonserviceable - lifetime lubricated' like the supercharger, started going out. Lifetime lubricated = lifetime of the warranty LOL. Biggest PITA was finding the fancy Castrol power steering fluid, but that's more common now. Got decent mileage, decent power especially considering the weight, and handled excellently. But yeah, new - the dealer down here added a minimum $10k upcharge (they were the BMW dealer).

$12k seems extremely reasonable for that amount of fun. Good work! The new Cooper GP at $50k for only 301hp does not seem like a very good decision unless you are a diehard Mini fan.
Looks like the new Audi RS3 with its new "torque splitter" is for real. It just set a new lap record at the Nurburgring for the compact car class. Talk about a remarkable turnaround! That is almost 10 seconds faster than the TTRS (which was faster than the old RS3)!?! Now I am really curious to see this car at the Lightning Lap on VIR.
Given the general ease of increasing boost in a Cooper S, I don't see the point of the higher spec models. Although I haven't shopped for one in a while; they might start at $50k which is ridiculous. Now I'll have to go look - when we bought ours new ones were just under $34.
I think I've watched 3-4 different reviews and they have been very positive. Sounds like GM hit it out of the park with this one!
Really looking forward to the CT5 reviews. I do have the opportunity for ordering one, I just need to figure out how I would pay for it.
Their lap time at VIR was amazing and makes it the fastest sedan to date for Lightning Lap. It should be a stunner. So many good cars coming out this year. What a great time to be an enthusiast!
Finally got around to snapping a pic of the new wheels. This is the 4 cyl model which already seems too fast around town. 45mph feels like 35. Need to constantly watch speed or else I see a ticket in my future.
Found the most distant spot possible at costco under a tree - it's ~90F and 100% humidity here today.
Dash cam already reinstalled, new tires in a few days (michelin PS AS4, 245/40/18). Possibly sway bars down the line.
Initial thoughts, just a hint of lag off the line which is fine. I don't jack rabbit from stops anyway. MPG avg ~28-29, seen as high as 33 on the hwy.
