Yeah, that's really surprising. He seems to love modern technology.

I think those are GT-R brakes. I could see that they are 2pc. rotors on both ends with 4 pot calipers in the back. It would be great if they kept those for the production model and even better if they switched to slotted rotors.

You really like the rear end? It seemed like the one part that did not really flow with the design of the rest of the car with these long swooping lines and then the rear is abruptly cut off.

I thought the same thing about the grille until I heard them confirm the twin turbo. That made me think of a big intercooler. Looking at it straight on it looks like a 240Z from the front with the grille and especially the headlights. From the side I noticed for the first time that the front end really comes to a sharp point like a shark or a Corvette.

The styling is growing on me. Definitely a contender at this point for me. I just hope the performance stats/features are impressive.

Yes, I owned a 370Z for a while. I'm 6'1" and had lots of room and good visibility. Tallest guy I ever sold one to was 6'7" or 6"8 and he fit well- mainly due to the fact that there was no compromise for room up front with the lack of a back seat.
I do like the rear end. I think they've managed to have a bit of homage without looking retro. I like the high, aggressive rear diffuser as well. In the pictures I'll admit it looks better from straight behind and I have some concerns about how convex that cross section may be when looking from the side, but just the overall design of the elements I see are great. some of this is a little tough to judge in this kind of picture.

I think the grill will be less controversial in person. With a sense of space and 3D about it, it will seem less like just a flat square on the front of something mostly curvy. I'm sure airflow was at a premium when they left no vents at the front corners. Maybe for the Nismo trim?

Despite the large grille, in my opinion it looks good. I cannot speak the same for the newer BMW's however. Large grilles properly executed can look fine. See Audi vs 2020 Chevy HD trucks. One is good, the other is so horrific it causes car crashes.

I just replaced my G37 Sedan with a 2016 Audi A7 TDI recently. Was time to move to a bigger car (but has a Diesel engine - love the torque!)

This might seem odd company for this discussion, but Mazda just confirmed a 2.5 Turbo in their new CX30. It's an appealing little package. Really acceptable, personal utility vehicle, IMO.

I've always liked Mazda. I mean, clearly it doesn't satisfy the intent of this discussion, but it's a grocery getter I wouldn't mind owning.

I've found myself considering more economic replacements for my G. Options with better MPG, cheaper maintenance, etc...I can't do an SUV; just find them too soul sucking for daily driving.

Big yes to that Nismo render. Where did you find that, 4DRZ?

Big no to that wing for a street car. You know, a very cool factory option would be a detachable track wing, swapped with a clean rear spoiler. Wing on for the track, spoiler on for the street. Does anyone actually do that?

Wait, are RWL tires making a comeback?

Looks like the upper half is fake grille for the bumper bar / cosmetics.

Not on a factory car as far as I know.

I would say a 'ducktail' style rear spoiler would fit the Z and pay homage to the 240z.

I'm not in love with the rear end. I also don't love a fully digital speedo - but I could live with it.

If you don't look at the rear, the car looks great...

At Rochester: Mazda's having pretty good luck sticking the 2.5L turbo AWD powertrain in all of its models - and why not? Still like to see it in a Miata, but then it wouldn't have a manual. I cannot imagine how boring an automatic miata, regardless of power, would be. So far I've never driven a car that can mimic a proper heel and toe downshift under braking.

Went with the TDI over the supercharged gas engine?? Any reason for that? I have recently been looking into the A7s and really like them

The new M3/M4 gets released on Wednesday. September seems to be a good month for cool car reveals. I am excited about the car and the fact that it will be coming with a manual transmission, but I fear it will have a face only a mother could love.
