^^I owned a 4th gen z28 (6mt of course) until my mid 30's. Didn't see a reason to replace it while it still ran. 4th gen had much more utility than the 5/6th gen's (or whatever gen they're up to now). The car was a true hatch. Fold down the rear seats and you have lots of space. Did two moves with it. Many many boxes fit back there, not to mention all the nooks and crannies you can stuff stuff into.
If I were still in my 30's, I might even own a Camaro, regardless its impact on finding someone to marry.
Driving ~100 miles home from Asheville with the t-tops out and stereo blaring in mid February was a pivotal moment in my relationship with my then friend and now wife. But then again, the Trans Am was always a little classier than the Camaro
I sold it shortly after getting the G37S. Don't miss it at all.
Since Rochester said what I was going to said, yes, for the most part, I think so little of the quality of American cars. Especially the Charger.

But, for clarity, you said cars. Domestics are almost completely pulling out of the car market, and are focusing on SUVs and trucks, and in those applications, they make interiors that rival almost anything. And it makes sense, since most domestic cars kinda suck--and I'm specifically talking sedans here, and not the Corvette, Mustang etc. I've never driven a Ram, because I have no desire to own a truck, but I've been in the new one--and you're absolutely right, the interior quality and fit and finish is top notch.
If I wanted a V8, I'd go Chevy SS with a 6MT over any flavor of Charger.

Pretty much all of my gripes that you highlighted are related to the interior. And although our Durango R/T interior is a little sub-par IMO, it is still perfectly livable (same goes for the Charger interior). I just wish all of FCA's interiors were as nice as the interior in our Ram 2500, which is by far the nicest interior on any car I have ever owned. Either way, I would take mechanical reliability over interior fit and finish any day of the week. Probably the reason why it's been well over a decade since I bought a European car. Plus, why not choose a car that is more fun to drive and the Charger R/T (especially the scat pack model) is definitely more fun to drive than an A4. All that said, it is all about priorities, so I doubt these two cars would be cross shopped very often, but it's still fun to talk about it. LOL
And I'm definitely with you on the Chevy SS. Although the styling falls way flat IMO, it is still an amazing car for the money. However, if you are not looking for a used car then you'd have to pull that one off your shopping list.

Hahaha. I think my wife would divorce me if I ever bought a Camaro. She's even threatening me for just thinking about buying a C8. Although, I think she might change her mind on that if/when we ever have a chance to test drive one.

My second car was a Firebird Formula with the t-tops. I bought that car because my neighbor's older Brother used to drive us to school in his Trans Am and for some unknown reason I thought he was so cool at the time and wanted to be just like him. It definitely attracted a lot of girls in Ohio way back in the 1980's. Funny enough, my wife was not one of those girls and she wouldn't even date me until I sold the Firebird and bought an RX7. I definitely don't miss my Firebird either.

Luck you! Sadly, I've never had the opportunity to drive an SS. One of my buddies did own one for a very short period of time before he got rear ended and the car was totaled. And I did get to ride with him a couple of times and came away very impressed. Plus, one of my neighbors in my old neighborhood had one and I got to hear him drive by my house a couple times a day... Just the noise alone made me jealous!

When I was a teenager I would call the car companies and ask for a brochure on such-and-such model. I have a stack of brochures from the early 90s for all the sports cars of the day--911, Supra, RX7, 3000GT, etc.
When I was 17-18 my Z28 started getting long in the tooth and I had an inflated sense of my parent's finances... I desperately wanted to get a Saleen Mustang.
My Z28 nuked its transmission racing a Supra Turbo. (this was the 80s, I'm calling statute of limitations on that one re; website bannination). Thus began my interest in imported cars.

I know I do, and more often recently since some of the configurators/visualizers have gotten really good... I think I've built at least a half dozen different C8 configurations over the past several weeks. Here's my most recent build.
Yeah! I probably would never buy a C8 in orange, but it definitely stands out. I really like the Madagascar Orange that Jaguar has on the F-Type. Heavy metallic in that color and not quite as bright at the Corvette orange. They also offer it in a satin finish. I'm not usually a fan of satin paint finish on a car, but for some reason I think it works well for the F-Type in this particular color.
