Alpha reliability improved? Latest car/driver (?) suggests otherwise. Still, beautiful car but reliability is a big deal.

Their next gen Gulia is already in the works. I'm sure it will look absolutely gorgeous up on the flatbed on its way back to the shop.

That's Alfa, not Alpha.

Lego, congrats on the Audi. Seems like a perfect fit for you two. My wife's Subaru has that exact same color combo... pearl white paint, black plastics, brushed aluminum trim and rich brown leather seats. It feels so visually rewarding, I love it.

For a 10 year old (+) platform, the G is still a looker with its curves. Too bad nissan's upgrades turned out to be otherwise.

Lego- The A4 is a nice car and a tune can do a lot for an Audi or a VW. I thought about an S4 for a while as well as an RS3, but at the end of the day most of the weight of the engine is ahead of the front axle creating huge understeer. You can do a lot of work and tuning to a car, but it is awfully difficult to re-engineer the placement of the motor. It is a shame because the interiors of Audis are a nice place to be. For a lot of people who just drive it around town, that won't be an issue at all. But if you do track it like me even their hardcore RS3 gets smoked around the track by an STI with about 100 less hp and almost 1/2 the cost.

DevilsG- We have talked about the Alfa Giulia Quadrifoglio many times here. It is a beautiful car with awesome steering and a fantastic engine. It is not available with a stick shift here in the U.S. It seems to be the fastest 4 door in its class and just set a new record for Car & Driver's lightning lap in this month's issue. Unfortunately, it is also their most unreliable car. They had a long term Giulia that was horribly unreliable. For this year's lightning lap they also had major problems.

Rochester- No one believes you didn't conspire with DevilsG on his Alfa/Jag post. Trying to plead innocence before anyone even has time to respond does not help your case either.

Also early g35s 2004/05 and g37s 2008/09 havent had the best track record either. Give the Alfa a year or 2 more. Its a newish design, it will come together. HAVE FAITH! lol

On the other hand, im having the gallery gaskets done on 2010 g37 with 55k miles on it, Reliability isnt something id boast about my car over another right now lol (except for Subie Sti cause ringland failures are more common and a way worse problem)

I cant wait until this is over, i love my G and want her to be healthy again! But She will live on, She will be stronger, Faster, Oh yes 😈

Congrats one the Red Sport! It would be awesome if you posted your thoughts on it here and gave your opinion on what you like more and what you like less in comparison to the g37 once you break it in. Enjoy the turbo!

A warning to future redsport owners. Get your turbos replaced to the revised 19 + turbos and have your belt alignment checked with TSB before 70K miles.These are the 2 most common drive train issues I see on this car by being active in the various Q50/Q60 communities.

My wastegates went out on my Red Sport. Getting upgraded turbos while the motor is out.

At the hardware store yesterday, I did a walk-around of a white & black Land Rover Velar parked far away from everyone else. Basically this pic here below, although not my picture.

Something about it was beautiful to me. Certainly an overpriced land-cruiser, but the overall look of this vehicle was striking.



I love the look of recessed door handles. Very slick design.

I've always thought the LR Evoque was a nice looking vehicle for a CUV. More of a replacement for my wife's CX5 than for the G though.

Absolutely. Me too. The dimensions, unique lines, low roof-line... it's very appealing. Particularly the 2-door Evoque Coupe, for some odd reason.

However, every time I find myself digging into the Evoque, I come away concerned and unimpressed. I want to want it, but keep getting slapped back. Maybe the new model is better... IDK, it's been a while since I trolled the Evoque.

Exactly the same with the Stelvio... I want to want it, but reality keeps me from being all in.

OK, seems LR redesigned the Evoque for 2020, and dropped the 2-door Coupe.

I have a very hard time seeing the business case for that over, for example, the CX5 we already have. It isn't overland/trail rated (or intended) but I wouldn't be buying a LR for that either. (If I did, I'd be looking for a 90s Defender or an early Jeep). For a people mover/ do most everything well car, the plethora of CUVs/jacked station wagons we have now has many choices. A friend has a Forester with an STI powerplant in it. The BMW X5 is very sober but competent. Hell, even the discontinued QX30 was pretty nice.

I think we're of the same mind here. Like you and your wife, I have my modded G and she has her fully loaded Forester Touring Edition. Also like you said, there's no "business case" to replace my G for another CUV, or to replace her Subaru for a newer one, since her's is still like new. We didn't opt for the added $7000 required to get Subby's WRX drivetrain (which they dropped in 2019), but in all honesty the Turbo was an awkward fit for that car. Too much power for that platform, 93 Octane required and crappy gas mileage. After we drove one, it was faster, sure, but we both said "no" to it.

BTW, the Forester XT had the WRX drivetrain, not the STi.
