But agreed, no 6MT, no care. I'd be in a Q50 if it was available with a manual. 400 horsepower, RWD, where do I sign up?

Completely off topic....If Infiniti was ever going to release the Project Black S I feel like riding the coat tails and press of the Supra would've worked in their favor and the time to do it.
It would've smoked the Supra in every measurable way.
In more un-related news, the GT500 looks very good IMO.

I would only consider buying it 2nd hand used in the 4+ year old range. By then it will be much more affordable and should have a good aftermarket support.
The old Supra was a good performer for its era bone stock, however what really made it popular was the aftermarket support that car had to make power.
I can see this new supra being much alike. Decent performer stock but where it will shine is once aftermarket support starts rolling in full effect.
Finding manual sports cars in this era is just getting harder and harder. Even the new GT500 is only available in a auto with no manual

Agreed. That Q60 could be a cool car with a 6MT and AWD. Just look at the tunes from Z1. WOW!!!

It's a low power, 2.1 liter turbo diesel. Step up and you can't get the MT.

It's like the Genesis G70 6MT... the manual is only for the weak engine. I think VW used to do that with the CC and Passat.
Stupid bean counters, sucking the life right out of the people who are the most enthusiastic about their cars.

RWD, Brembo brakes and an LSD are nice and all, but I think I'd just as soon take a 6MT Accord Sport, pocket the change, and be happy knowing I'd own a G70 in a stoplight showdown.

Seriously though, wonder what it is about the EU market that is hanging tight to the stick shift. And why has US stopped appreciating them? Combo of longer commutes, worse traffic and laziness?
Or maybe a better question is why are some of us so attached to manuals?

I'm sure they'll survive without us...

I'm sure over 60% of the population over there knows how to drive a manual. Whereas here in the states probably 20% or less knows how to drive a manual.

Since cars are generally more expensive in the EU, I guess the delta btwn manual and auto transmission is greater so more folks opt for the cheaper version. And apparently marketing is a bit different over there, with auto trans reserved more for luxury marques/upper trim levels, while here, even lowest base models are autos.
Also looks like some countries require driver test to be done in a manual, which is certainly a huge impact on market demand (since all drivers know how to shift)
Interesting...

there's a lot of area under the curve with 260 ft.lb @ 1400rpm compared to the G37 with 269 @ ~4500 (iirc). the 3.3T along with 6MT would be sweet, but Genesis is not about to R&D a new gearbox for such a low volume trim. they already had access to a 6MT from the new Hyundai N models.
as for the Accord 2.0T 6MT, go test drive one. i did. sure, they are quick off the line - and the front tires let you know that, especially if there are any curves in the road under heavy throttle. but then there's everything else about it. feeling like you're driving a barn for one, cheap plastics abound for another, and on and on. far too many compromises for this guy for 0-60 bragging rights. there's just nothing that feels special about it. just don't ask the Honda sales team since their pitch is basically "these Hondas sell themselves, we don't need to". reminds me of the lazy realtors in Vancouver during all the foreign buyer speculation.
of course i am biased, but i wholeheartedly agree that the G70 6MT platform deserves the big engine. i still find that what Infiniti did with the G37S 6MT Sedan trim packaging was the best execution. they knew that executive enthusiasts would pay for a top trim (read: higher margins for Nissan) when paired with a 6MT. the 6MT package came 'loaded' which was perfect out of the box in its day. like having the cake and eating it too. nowadays, the 6MT loyalists have to compromise in almost all cases. the Acura TL 6MT was similar to the G37, only available on top trim, but it was the FWD TL and hideous so no go.
