$4000 to spend on performance...

What's up fellow G37er's

So...I've had my 2011 G37 Journey 7AT for a while now and I've only added the Paddle shifters and some cosmetic upgrades so far (some paint accents, radio *****, light kits, rear window spoiler, etc.). I've finally put together a few dollars ($4000) for some performance upgrades. I'm sitting on 18's and I haven't lowered it yet. I'm planning on moving up to either 19's or 20's (not part of the $4000 budget). I care about handling, horses & a nice throaty exhaust note. I probably can't get all of that done on the $4000 budget (or can I?) so if you had the 4 stacks...how would you spend it?
I met some of you guys at the Pennsylvania Meet a couple years ago.
Any and all suggestions will be appreciated.

Id buy a full carbon fiber interior if I were you!

https://www.myg37.com/forums/private...for-sedan.html

But no seriously, I'd buy the interior and look for used parts on the forums, FB, CL. You'll get more for your money when used but that always comes with precautions as well.

Intake, exhaust, rims are always good to see if you can find used.

On the other hand, FI kits and suspension I personally stray from

Or he can buy the Volk ZE40s I have for sale for $2800 and spend the $1200 left over on some Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires.

You need to decide if you want to make your car fast or look good.
If you want to make it fast, you should keep saving, if you want to make it look good, 4k will get you there easy.

Aight Micafd3s.
Thanks for the suggestions. I don't think I'm gonna be needing the type of numbers that forced induction can produce. but the others are definitely on my short list. What are your opinions on brands/models for your suggestions? (intakes, hfc, coilovers or just lowering springs). I think I'm only considering about a 1" drop cause of the angle of my driveway.

-Hotchkis sways
-KW V3 (coils) or Koni struts w/ springs of choice
-Ark or MD exhaust with HFC, no test pipes
-intake of choice, won't do much without a tune
-tune
-forged wheels (volk, ssr, work, advan...say NO to vossen, varrs, velgen, xxr, esr, str..etc) with sticky tires (can be sourced used and save some $$$ if done right)

Also if you don't mind used parts there's always people selling via the forum, if not let me know what you want and I can see if there's anything on CL for you

hey Stachuu
Truth of the matter is while I'd love my car to be more responsive and quick...I'll be 50 in a year and some change and I no longer feel like I need a 10 second car. I've taken my car to it's top end and it was enuff for me
but I'd love a quick car that handles REALLY well for aggressive lane changes, around the turns and loopy on and off ramps. And I want it to look good while doing it.

what's your suggestions to get my car in that zone?

Now that's my idea of a suggestion VenomGT9. lol
Thanks. Do you think that for 4 stacks will accomplish all of that with DIY work or should I just start somewhere on that list?

Depends on which parts and if new or used. Personally, I'm a fan of used (condition dependent) parts, especially quality wheels, and haven't really had issues in the process.
IF it were ME in your shoes, I'd do something like this;
sways = find lightly used (CL or forums) or on sale
Koni shocks = buy new
springs = used
Ark exhaust = buy new
HFCs = used if less than 15k miles on them, check the cores otherwise buy on sale
intake = used but buy new filters

Once you have the full exhaust and intake, get a tune and then start saving for those quality wheels

Thank you very much for your time and input VenomGT9. Now I just need to find a good shop in ATL for the tune at the end of this road and just incase I need some help with any of these installs. I'm pretty good with tools and DIY work with instructions and/or vids...but you never know.

In a 401k or IRA to fund my retirement fund.

Why waste $4k on a depreciating piece of metal?

Pulling these numbers off the top of my head. Don't judge me, LOL.

Cats: $400 - $700
Catback: $800 - $1600
Swaybars: $400
Springs: $300, or Tein CO's: $500
Front & Rear camber arms: $400
Dyno tune: $800?

You're pretty close to your $4000 budget. Over, actually. As long as that's a number for parts, and not installation. However, there's no rule that says you have to buy top-shelf, or *new* for that matter. G'luck.

Or... you could also spend all that money on wheels & tires, while still wishing you'd spent more.

Or... you could also spend all that money on a GT-Haus Meisterschaft catback. You know, for the kids.

Stop it. Add value by answering the question, not by repeating the same lame retirement BS.
