Honestly my "G" was accidented. I had a Carfax and details on the repairs. My gaps are even and you can't tell it's been in an accident. It's a clean title vehicle that had no frame damage. Run, drives well at all speeds. I do not regret my decision at all. I also saved about $6k on the purchase.

As it was stated earlier, have it checked by good body shop and do a PPI. You should be fine. If you notice anything questionable during your visual inspection or test drive, walk away

As long as there is no frame damage I'd say carry on with the buy. If the damage was front end, just be sure to listen for anything odd while the engine is running. Typically, damage to the rear wouldn't bother me (no homo) but anything to the front has me worried about the engine.

My question would be, how much can you get a non-accidented G37x from a dealer for ?

I am in Ontario and bought mine accident free last year for $18,999 and the thing with these cars in Canada is they like to drink gas and I mean a lot, as in I also have a 2014 Ram 2500 and the car is almost right there as far as fuel economy, so there is a ton of G37 on the used car market around here.

For the piece of mind that you started the thread for shop it out and see what you can find.

Here is one it's in Ottawa and it's not that much more.

The problem with CarFax is it doesn't contain details of "accidents." It only says a car was involved in an accident. Anything over $500 in damage warrants that a Police Dep't is required to investigate. So essentially an accident could be a minor fender bender or one very minor in nature.

For instance, a year after purchasing a new '08 Infinti G35x someone backed into me in a grocery store parking lot. Damage to the left rear fender occurred, but at a 5mph speed the damage wasn't extensive. 4 years later, while parked unoccupied, the front bumper was taken off by a school bus. Again, no high impact collision but still an accident. The car drives and appears as if it has never been involved in an accident, and in a sense the extent of repair was cosmetic restoration.

That said, I can understand not wanting to buy an accident car. But that alone is a major bargaining chip to you the buyer, as 99.9% of the time a dealer doesn't know the extent of the reported CARFAX "accident" either. All IMHO, of course. Good luck on whatever the OP decides.

Sometimes the carfax does describe the damage, i've seen it on some car's reports.

Google the VIN number. Often the salvage auction pictures will come up for a year or so after the auction.

I also bought accidented G.
It was accidented bad enough to be a salvage title.
2011 G37 Sedan 6MT

Pros: Got the car for about 11k, at the time a similar one would cost about $18k.

Cons: I can see where the body work is not 100%. Resale value is probably about nil. I had to put in some work additional work such as replace airbags/module.

If you're planning to buy a car and run it into the ground, salvage title is the way to go.

If you think you might sell next year, think twice.

Also, make sure airbags are good. A deployed side airbag will cost you $3000 to fix at the dealer.

Guys, looking at a different G37x now... 65,000km, very low miles, price is $12,500, very good price.

But... when the car was new (and on lease) it had a rear end collision, at around 5,000km.

It cost $11,000 to fix. Carfax states FRAME DAMAGE. STRUCTURAL DAMAGE. But technically 'repaired'

I drove the car and it drives great, but I am still worried.

I am getting the car inspected next week by an Infiniti Dealer - they should be able to tell me if the car is A-OK and the frame damage is no issue going forward, right?

I was told about the car having an 'accident' which didn't touch engine, then we negotiated price. THEN after I found out about the carfax's FRAME/STRUCTURAL damage.

The price is still good, and I want to see Infiniti dealer says about it, but at the same time... I'm thinking of possibly walking or asking for the price to be lowered or I walk...

If Infiniti states repair to frame looks good what would a fair price on the car be? It's in great condition otherwise and low miles.

Okay so, what if the damage was rear end CENTER, and it cost $11,000 to repair? And carfax states FRAME DAMAGE/STRUCTURAL DAMAGE.

?

I will get it inspected by Infiniti.. but will that be enough to ensure it's all good?

Thanks man.

I don't care much about resale value but I do care about.. having a frame that was repaired, sounds scary.

Should it be OK? You can see my other threads above for more info.. planning to get it checked out by Infiniti.. should I even bother?

Yea...I would be able to overlook a lot but frame damage would have me sketched out.

"FRAME DAMAGE. STRUCTURAL DAMAGE"

RUN AWAYYYYYYYYYY!!!!

Like I said earlier, My G had an accident, sideswiped before I purchased, but no fame damage and was repaired properly and has a CLEAN title. Even if it was aligned to drive properly, most of the time Frame Damage will rear it's ugly head at some point after your purchase
