Sedan weight reduction
WEIGHT LOSS SO FAR:
Tein Basis: 10.6 lbs
TSW Interlagos w/ RE-71R's/Yokohama Advan Apex V601: 10 lbs
DC Headers: 7.8 lbs
Stillen Pulley: 4 lbs
Z1 cats: 10 lbs (est.)
Sparco R600 driver's seat with Bride rails/sliders: 24.8 lbs
Z1 2pc. front rotors: 16.4 lbs
Z1 motor mounts: 4 lbs
Sparco R600 passenger seat with Bride rails/sliders: 19.4 lbs
Total: 107 lbs
In the words of Colin Chapman, "Simplify, then add lightness." I think this has always been a good motto for me and especially since my 2013 G37S sedan is the heaviest car I have owned. I do track the car, but it is also my daily driver so I do not plan on giving up too many creature comforts.
I am wondering what some of you have found to be good modifications to reduce weight, specifically the battery. I live in WI so if I did a different battery I would not want to decrease CCA at all. I have looked at Braille batteries for other cars and I see they now make lithium ion as well. What batteries have you used that reduce weight (how much?), but do not cost a ton?
So far I have lost weight with my wheels, headers, and maybe my Tein Basis coilovers, Stillen exhaust, and Z1 cats. (But I definitely added some of that weight back with the Hotchkis sway bars) I will eventually swap out the rotors for Z1 2pc. slotted to save some weight. I am also looking into lighter front seats as well.

The muffler delete sounded pretty good. That should save you 40 lbs. You could take your spare tire out. Someone suggested replacing the seats with racing seats. Yeah, how about replacing your trunk and hood with CF?
The batteries I see don't seem to have the CCA, so I would say no to that.

I bet that's your best move right there. Probably the only thing you could do that would really make a difference. Given what you've been doing with the car, I'm surprised you haven't done this yet.
Let's see... floor mats aren't exactly light. Same for the big trunk mat.

Lose some weight, sometimes the driver is the biggest difference in weight reduction. LOL

I found out the hard way that this idea is definitely not a good one for the track with this car.
I'm already well into this idea.

With mass being the most elementary solution to NVH, it's a tall order.
Lowering the unsprung weight is one of the best things you can do though, so +1 to the Z1 2pc rotors. I just invested in a full set myself
Retrofitting the Yamaha Chassis Dampers may also help tame the unruliness of the weight

I fully gutted my G from the B pillars back, and did the following mods.
- Bride Zeta III Type L's
- Fortune Auto Dreadnought Pro 2 True Coilovers
- Advan GT's (19x9.5)
- SPL Front UCA's
- SPL Rear Camber Arms
- Motordyne ART Pipes
- Motordyne Shockwave CBE
Have the full SPL catalog coming soon, along with new brakes, etc. Getting unsprung weight as low as possible.
