G37x vs. G37s (what model do you have?)

6MT G37S sedan here. came from a gen-1 G35 6MT sedan. have had a great time with both. went sedan due to occasional rear passengers, and now occasional baby seats. the gen-1 sedan was also lighter than the coupe, but for gen-2 the gap is much closer. not that that is a primary driver, just a neat fact.
RWD, 6MT and sedan were the top 3 boxes to check and the G37S simply stood out from the competition. not the fastest or most luxurious, but the best overall package when considering value and reliability.
too bad that the new Q50 only comes in AWD in Canada, and of course they dropped the 6MT. i did try the new RS400 and it was fun...but that 7AT slushbox is a deal breaker. perhaps if Infiniti goes at least to a dual-clutch with their next model refresh i would consider it. but for now when my '09 runs out of breath i'll be looking German...

Don't count on it. No DCT. Would have stayed but I jumped ship to the BMW side because the lack of 6MT on the new model.

I have an 07 G35S rwd with 5at, I've driven a 15 Q50 AWD, and 15 Q50S awd and while I did have some fun in the Q50S, the AWD does take some of the excitement away forsure.
The good thing for the AWD guys on here, it seems in the DIY section you can do a mod/hack to have a switch that will allow it to drive in rwd only until you flip the switch back to normal awd.

2009 G37X Sedan,
X because I also live in the northeast and needed something I can drive year around.
The X is a RWD bias car and only sends power to the front"if or when" the rears slip, I've driven a RWD sedan and did not notice any difference in the "Fun Factor" or driving behavior.
You can make the X a 100% RWD buy disconnecting the AWD module( Takes 10 seconds).

LOL, ANMVQ.
If you're buying a Sport Sedan because you consider yourself a driving enthusiast, and the top-of-line model has a 6MT option, then you're just fooling yourself with rationalizations and regrets. This is true 90% of the time. It just is. The other 10% are people who have to drive in B2B rush hour every day, or who simply never learned how to drive a stick.
Another school of thought is that we mod the cars we have, not necessarily the cars we wish we had. Unless of course you buy the car that you wish you had in the first place.

I have a 2012 G37 Journey. I would have preferred the G37X, actually, but the non-AWD version got me through one Missouri winter so far and I think I've got it about figured out in terms of how it behaves over snow. I've never needed an AWD vehicle in snow before... front wheel drive is what I was used to, but then I learned to drive on a Chevy Caprice station wagon V8 RWD and drove that for years, including winters, so it's just a question of relearning the car's footing on slick surfaces.
I do love the traction control—my old 2003 Dodge didn't have it—and I also am glad I can turn it off when I need to.
I was briefly tempted to trade up to a G37X coupe convertible, but I'm glad I stuck with the sedan. Having a back seat and a decent sized trunk are too often necessary.

2011 G37XS Sedan
Why, because circumstances at the time prevented me from buying the IPL coupe of the same configuration, only manual, during my purchase. I personally didn't care whether it was AWD or RWD, I was happy to be done with FWD. Although, the AWD has been of help when the Columbus area gets dumped on in those rare winter blizzards. My only regret is with it not being manual.

2012 G37S sedan. Bought it as it was the best bang for the buck (bought used) for all the goodies you get. Wanted the RWD to get all the real S goodies as well as never having owned a RWD care before (leave me alone!).
In MD so we get some snow, had one big storm this past winter and snow tires on the stock rims performed just as good if not better then a pure FWD car. Had 0 issues with it in the snow.
Didn't get a 6 MT as it was next to impossible to find and the ones there were had more miles and cost more as well. I also do a lot of highway/work driving so the 7at allows me to be a bit lazy so to speak.
