Found a great deal for a pair of Michelin as4. 245/45/18, I already have a pair of as3 in that size. I wonder what would be the problem putting a 245/45/18 on my 7.5" front wheel. I would like to get the newer, as4 as the front tire and the older as3 since the rears wear out much faster.

I bought the as3s about a year ago and never put them on. if I had checked the manufactured date I would have never bought them. There 4018 and 1019 or around there. which makes them actually slightly older than my current ones.

The tire shop is 70 miles away, but the as4 are 100 installed and they look like they have good tread on them

Started to install a 370z sway bar. Dropped the old sway bar and the exhaust.


I after installing the new to me away bar I noticed my fast intentions exhaust had some issues.

I noticed the driver side muffler was about to break off. I am a little disappointed on how awfully thin the stainless is. I had to weld this back together, and if you’ve ever tig welded thin stainless before you know it can be a PITA. lol but I got it sealed back up.



I also added a self tapping screw to secure my rusty broken exhaust hangers.
I had an exhaust leak where the x pipe meets the test pipes. I used some oem donut gaskets that are used on the test pipes instead of the standard style gaskets and it is sealed up well. No leaks now. The car sounds great again.

Got the tires installed. Ended up paying 240 for 4 tires installed. So far they feel great. I bought the car in 2016, if I could go back, I would have gotten the Z1 2 piece rotors, which were around $500 back then. Then tried to source 2 pairs of the Front 19" rays from the G35. I have never put larger tires on the front and the the 19x8 weigh 19 lbs, the 245/40/19 also weight 2 lbs lighter, making the cars unspung mass lighter by 24lbs. With the 2 piece rotors it would be 43lbs. I can only imagine how much better the car would feel with 43lbs less unsprung weight. My car has 224k and I plan on probably replacing around 2026/2027. I paid 11k out the door so, it would only cost me about 1,100 a year including tires, brakes and small mods.

At some point, I was running same size tires all around on my coupe 19” wheels. Think they were 245/40 front and rear?

Didn’t look great and there was no benefit to running all same-size tires (never bothered to rotate them before they all needed replacement).

For OEM wheels, think I’ll just stick with factory spec

Completed my new front grill project today. Bought off eBay for around $100. The entire grill came in a gloss black finish, so I plastidipped the mesh part to make it look more OEM (PD worked great for the application). Then, I stuck a self-adhesive Fuji emblem in the middle, to complete the look. The fitment is superb, and the glass finish matches the OB paint nicely.

I also removed the black window trim (3m 1080 vinyl), which I installed myself about 6 years ago (was showing its age). Tried to do it myself again, but failed. Window trim wrapping is a young man’s game, apparently. Will go the professional route this time. Until then, my chrome trim will get some fresh air. Really does make a huge difference in the overall look of the car. Like the cockpit now seems taller or something.

Also, has anyone found black centercaps with the Fuji logo, that fit G37 OEM wheels? They need to be 54mm, and the newer, Q50 centercaps are larger.

I've scoured the internet and apparently nobody makes these? I’d rather not paint the OEM chrome ones, because their surface is ridged and don’t think painting them would turn out right.

Last photo above reminds me how much the chrome center caps stand out

I would like to think that if I did have a square wheel setup, I would run a square tire as well. I think I would probably rotate them. my thinking is, that not only could I rotate them. but I would lose weight on the corners. I keep finding people who have a pair of the G35 rays. every once in awhile I think about buying a set. they're at least only half an inch between the two widths, where my factory ones are 7 and 1/2 and 8 1/2. when he was installing them I was paying attention to make sure that he put the front wheels in the front

I’ve actually already bought the blank, black centercaps which fit our OEM wheels (54mm, nine-prong).

But where are good quality Infiniti emblems/ decals that would fit on those blank caps?

Prices vary but there are a ton on eBay new and used.

But those are 2-1/2 inch diameter, or something like 64mm

The G37 center cap is 2-1/8 inch diameter, or 54mm

If you had the time you can probably clean it up quite nicely with some polishing.

The weather has been in the 45-70 range the last week or two and it looks like it's going to stay this way. Not to mention my wife is going back into the office 2 days a week so it will get some extra use for day care drop off/pick up.

The best part about not driving it for an extended period of time is it reminds you how much fun it is behind the wheel.
