Hmm. A resonant frequency for the chassis? In that context, frame and drivetrain bracing modifications impacts the situation.

At highway speeds, it's more about the volume from my FI exhaust than it is about any humming noise because of a sweet spot of resonance frequency. Also, at highway speeds my RPM is a little higher than normal because of the short rear gears, so there's that.

Same here. No drone - just perhaps excess noise.

edited to add: When I bought my FI, it was after looking at systems from a performance and an engineering perspective. FI seemed to do the best re: engineering next to Meistershaft, which IIRC was almost $10K for the whole exhaust.

Basically a muffler delete, seems a bit expensive just for tips.

I believe your setup is the full catback with the mufflers…I wanted to get more sound clips on the Topspeed pipes only that do away with the stock mufflers and the rest of the exhaust stock. I do love the sound of the full catback though!!

aaaah, gotcha, you were looking for the muffler delete thing. Sorry, top speed site wasn't loading.

Actually the exact build I have right now. Had some trouble with fitment because of damage to the left pipes of my exhaust, but the right side fit fine (with some force). There are some sound clips on YouTube, like this one:
. That's actually the main video I watched when researching to buy this exhaust but there are other sound clips. My budget for exhaust was low, so I opted for this axle back. If what you want is SOUND on a budget, then this is the right option. However the sound is nowhere nearly as aggressive, deep, or toned as a full catback would be. I will say though that I'm happy with what I got, it's exactly what I wanted: something thats loud and actually allows you to hear the nice VQ engine sound that the G37 has. And thats only with the right side installed.

Thanks for replying…Did tou have to cut off the end of the midpipe in order to slip joint the Top Speed to it? Also, the sound clip you provided, did it have the stock resonators and cats on it? It sounds great! To give myself an idea what it would sound lime, I disconnected the mufflers at the band clamp joint and sounded good, but not the same as the clip you provided. Let me know, and thanks again!

Had my exhaust chopped together by a good local shop. Meisterschaft Y-pipe, Tanabe coupe mid-pipe and HKS Hi-power mufflers.

Sounds perfect for me. Good VQ sound, minimal rasp. Does have a little bit of drone around 2800rpm but it doesn't bother me much. Overall I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

When installing the axle back I did it myself with a friend so we were not nearly as experienced or properly equipped as a reputable shop would be when installing things like this. That being said, we were able to install it on the passenger side of the car (the side with no damage to the car). The fitment was not perfect, it took a lot of force to slip joint it as you put it into the stock mid pipe that comes with the car and a lot of force to put it into the hangers. I'm sure that in a shop they probably would've just cut and re-welded whatever they needed to to get it fitted perfectly, but I installed it myself without the proper tools so it was hard to get it to fit on that passenger side. Because of this, there is some gapping between the axle back and mid pipe which I tried my hardest to fix by just forcing the exhaust into the mid pipe but alas, its hardened metal and I'm not strong enough to bend it lol. Anyways, I'll be taking my car to the shop this week to fix the damage to my exhaust and properly install this axle back. Once I've got it back, I'll try and post some sound clips for you to hear. As for the YouTube sound clip I provided, that is with the stock resonators and cats. In terms of sound, the axle back is loud and really allows that signature VQ engine sound to come through. That being said though, it will be nowhere nearly as aggressive, deep, or toned as an exhaust with more modifications. Muffler deletes on this car tend to just be loud and raspy, which is exactly what this kit from Topspeed is, it's a muffler delete kit that gives you some cool new sounding piping. In terms of the rasp I would say it's really not that bad, at least with this axle back. What I want is loud, good tone, and good performance. I've done some research and if I don't like the way it sounds/runs once I get it back from the shop, I'm gonna delete the factory resonators and replace them with some 2.5inch inlet 12" Vibrant Resonators, replace the factory rubber ribbed intake hoses with smoother new Z1 Silicon Post-MAF Intake Hoses, and get a pair of aFe Magnum Flow DRY S air filters to replace the stock ones in my OEM air boxes. Should net me the result I want. As for why I went for the dry ones and not oiled, the oil messes up the sensors (BAD), occasionally gets sucked into the engine (WORSE), and are a hassle to maintain (THE ABSOLUTE WORST).
