Too bad they didn't at least do you the favor of keying the whole car so you could get a full paint job through insurance instead of just the new fender.

I have a Thinkware F750 front cam paired with a Thinkware X500 rear camera for front and rear recording.
The Thinkware (and a few other cameras) has a built in motion sensor as well as a impact sensor (aka G Sensor).
If you hardwire the dash camera (directly wiring it to your fuse box instead of using the cigarette lighter adapter to power the camera) you will gain the benefit of what's called "Parking mode"
In parking mode, with the vehicle turned off, the camera uses both the motion sensor and G sensor to turn on and start recording.
If someone walks past the front or rear of the car and the camera detects the motion it will instantly kick on and start recording. In the case of my Thinkware F750 it actually records 10 seconds before the motion detection so you can see what led up to the motion detection triggering.
If someone pulls into a parking space and bumps your car the G sensor will detect the impact and also immediately kick on and start recording. My camera also records 10 seconds before the impact.
I set my settings in the camera to turn off the unit once battery voltage drops below 12.2V.
I also set it to only stay on for 12 hours after the car has been turned off.
So whichever one occurs first, 12.2V or 12 hrs, will cause the camera to turn off.
I notice my camera usually stays on for a good 8-10 hours before the battery voltage drops low enough to cut my camera off.
They sell external battery packs that can keep the camera running up to 20 hours if needed.

Thanks again for all the good wishes guys! If you don't mind me asking, what did your dash cams cost you? I'm not comfortable enough with wiring to install that myself.
On another notes, the dws 06's are awesome! Feels like a different car on the highway now and realllllly makes me want to get a set of hotchkis's asap haha. Can't wait to trek up to the mountains with em
Yes, payback is a bitch but that will have to wait a bit...lol

The Thinkware F750 is considered to be one of the more expensive dash cams due to its features. The F750 front cam is about $250 and the rear camera is $100. The hardwire kit is $30.
So for about $400 you'll have front & rear cameras.
That's pretty expensive I'm not going to lie.
However there are cheaper alternatives out there.
For example the G1W dash cam is known for being very cost efficient because it only costs $50-$60 and does a good job recording in 1080P.
So for $60 alone you can have yourself a front facing cam. However I'm not sure if it has parking mode which is something that would help in your situation.
You just gotta research.
I want nothing but the best for my car so i was willing to pay for a high end dash cam system like the Thinkware F750.
