So I "accidentally" bought one of these J2 exhausts (lowballed with an offer on eBay to see if it would be auto rejected, and it took. Lol... Whoops.)
I guess I'll do a comparison to my Top Speed via video before I swap over. I can do some in car and exterior shots.
Hopefully this doesn't completely f**k me. I think it's kind of fun to be the guinea pig, but I realize what can happen if it's a dud.
And for those curious, seller kospeed2008 (paypal has it as DNA motoring, or the company that has all the YouTube install videos for these J2 exhausts) on eBay auto accepted an offer of 490 but rejected 475. Who knows if there is something lower in there that would also take.

Maybe this "accident" will turn out much better than you expect and can pave the way for others that keep waiting for Top Speed to get the good tips in stock. Also curious to hear the difference since this is a true dual setup.
G/L and look forward to results. I think I was the guinea pig for the Top Speed back in the day so glad someone else stepped up

Yeah, I'm hopeful it turns out well. And if so, I know I've got a bunch of people that would buy the top speed...

Like my buddy said, it's all just pipe. It's stainless and mandrel bent, so assuming the welds don't fall apart upon looking at them, I should be OK. I probably won't keep the car long enough to see the longevity of this system. Haha...

I'll keep everyone posted.

So the exhaust arrived today. I have mixed feelings upon opening it... But there's a 20% restocking fee, so I'm kinda stuck. Oh well, here goes nothing.

On my doorstep. Good start.

Laughable packaging

Hardware

All laid out... hmmm. Not quite straight on that mid-pipe.

Yup, definitely kinked to one side. Hopefully that won't affect fitment too much.

This y-pipe is pretty nice. I can verify there's an H pipe, not just a brace.

Welds are decent. Not award winning, but looking on the inside, it at least penetrated

So what will this all turn out like? Who knows. I will attempt to take videos to compare to the TopSpeed, but with a toddler and a baby at home, who knows...

Stay tuned.

So upon further thought, this mid-pipe really is off. There is little chance of this fitting properly.
Thoughts?

The H-pipe looks nice. But you're gonna have a really hard time getting it to fit properly, the exhaust tips are going to be off. BTW that packaging is completely unacceptable.. I would get into contact with the merchant

Yeah, I've already started the return / send me properly fitting parts process on eBay.

Hard to say how it will all line up, there is some give w/ the rubber hangers and flex pipes but hard to say until you actually bolt it up. Looks to be acceptable quality from the pics. G/L

[QUOTE=socketz67;3961523]For comparison, here is the Top Speed midpipe:

Hmm, Wonder if those with a Tanabe could use this Y-pipe to bolt up to to increase the decibels a bit?

Maybe if you somehow/someway took off the brace ( getting welded back on later if you wanted it on) and bent the pipe inward toward the other it may line up better?

Man, props for being a guinea pig. But when it comes to catbacks, coilovers and stuff like that, I don't even dare thinking about going for some no-namer brands.

So here is the pic from the listing... sure looks like the kink in the mid pipe is in there, doesn't it? Or is that just me?
The tips still center... Might actually install this after all.
Tell me I'm not seeing things

It looks like it's that cross piece that's more off than the actual piping. For the hassle of returning and possibly just ending up w/ the exact same piece or similar issue I'd just mount it up. Just keep the bolts lightly snugged just to be sure it's going to fit to your satisfaction, then if it does tighten everything up and let all of us "inquiring minds" know what that set sounds like. You've lead us too far to stop now

That looks hella nice to me. For what, more than half the price of a name brand system fitment is good. I've been eyeing these exhausts for the last year or so but am too damn cheap. Wife bitches too much when I waste money on car parts. I used to have a real problem. lol
