Empty plug in front of radiator

So I was removing my bumper today and notice this empty plug in front of the radiator. I'm assuming this could be for the factory DRL's but want to throw it out there to see if anyone may know for certain.

I don't know for sure, but I was wondering the same thing when I saw it.

Perhaps a standard harness used for all Gs with an available plug for the Intelligent Cruise Control or Adaptive Front Lighting (Tech Pack)?

It is not for DRLs. I have the 2010 tech package and that plug goes into a module attached to that vertical sheet metal in front of the radiator. Can't see much through the grill, looking through the latch opening, I can see it is not connected to anything. So without looking at the service manual, my guess would have been outside air temp sensor, but it's the wrong size and shape based on the pictures of that part online.

I'd be guessing that it's for the intelligent cruise control system.

Yeah, likely the radar system that would be in the front of the car for that.

The Intelligent Cruise Control uses a laser and is behind a clear glass (or is it plastic?) panel down low on the bumper, driver's side. There is no radar at least not in the 2010.
The fsm says:The ambient sensor (1) is attached on hood lock stay assembly. It detects ambient temperature and converts it into a resistance value which is then input into the unified meter and A/C amp
Does your outside temperature reading work? Do you have automatic temp control on your AC, since the auto AC uses this sensor too?

As an aside, here is why the ambient temp is not always accurate (from FSM MWI-29)
"AMBIENT AIR TEMPERATURE
  • The unified meter and A/C amp. receives the ambient sensor signal from the ambient sensor.
  • The unified meter and A/C amp. calculates the ambient temperature according to the ambient sensor signal,

and transmits it to the combination meter.
• The indicated temperature does not increase if the vehicle speed is less than 20 km/h (12 MPH).
NOTE:
  • The ambient sensor input value that is displayed on “Data Monitor” of CONSULT-III is the value before the
correction. It may not match the indicated temperature on the information display.
  • Ambient temperature may be indicated higher than an actual temperature, depending on heat in the engine,

a road surface temperature, and so on"

Both My outside temp reading and auto AC works fine.

that plug is for the outside air quality monitor, part of the ACCS (advanced/automatic climate control system)

it triggers auto recirculation.
