Keep rolling with it if you want. You can usually tell when a battery is close to giving up the ghost. If your starts begin to sound "slower" or "bogged down" your batt is living on borrowed time. Mine went pretty fast from when that started happening. 2010 sedan and mine crapped out at about 38-39 months.

Replaced with an Interstate battery and no issues since. If I had a manual trans, I'd roll the dice and replace whenever it failed. However, if you've got an automatic, I'd replace it and have peace of mind. You never know when or where it will let go, and as Murphy's law dictates, it will always happen at the most inopportune and inconvenient time.

I also carry this in my trunk so I am not worried about getting stranded.

For what it's worth, if your battery is fully dead there's a decent chance that unit won't have enough power to jump our cars. If the battery still has some charge but is weak sure, but you're still taking a risk.

Wow. That's fantastic. Definitely a rarity. Would you post a photo of the date code sticker for posterity? It should be a round sticker, maybe about the size of a dime, with a letter and number on it.

My car is a 2013 and had to jump it once. One time it almost didnt start because I left the air on when the car wasnt running. Its been fine ever since. So people are just replacing their battery because of the date?

Why not? You replace your milk because of the date. And milk has never left me stranded at the lake.

If you haven't purchased it yet, try Big Moe Starter and Alternators. Lenny will give you a good price and fantastic service.

I guess because unless I saw signs of failure such as other things like tires or brake pads never had a problem. Also I guess because I have been leasing for so long I never keep a car much more than 3 years.

Mechanical and electrochemical properties are two very different lifespan calculations. The former being more obvious and abrupt. The latter not as easily detected.

Leasing will typically keep you free and clear from the battery gremlins. Lease on in your wonderful, walled garden.

Got 8 years out of a motorcycle battery. The replacements barely lasted 3 years. The G battery is going on 4 years now. I have noticed it doesn't crank as quickly as it used to, but still starts. I think sometime before winter hits I'll replace the battery. Cheap insurance against doing a battery replacement in freezing temps in the middle of winter.
