Debadging
Is there a thread on this site on de-badging? I've been looking around for one. Or a central resource but I must have missed it.
Not only is the INFINII badging on the trunk busy (in my opinion...if you love it that's cool too) ...it's a b*tch to wax and polish around. The g37x badging ain't getting much love either.
My apologies in advance if this is a totally redundant thread.
Thanks,
Sean

I just did this the other day, so it's fresh in my mind.
You'll need a heat gun / hair dryer, floss / fishing line, WD40, microfiber towel & whatever you have to clean, polish, wax, etc afterwards.
Take your heat source and heat up the letter / emblem you want to take off. If using a heat gun, keep it in constant motion to not bubble the paint. You only need about 10 seconds to heat it up where it's too hot to touch. If you're using a hair dryer, you don't have to be as careful, but still keep it moving just in case.
Take your floss and in a back & forth sawing motion go through the glue behind the badge. If it's hot enough, it will cut right through like butter. You will have varying amounts of adhesive left behind. Using your fingernail, pull up as much as you can. You can also rub your finger back & forth across the adhesive to have it "ball up" and come off in bigger pieces. Eventually you will get to adhesive that doesn't seem to want to come up. At this point, take your heat and get it hot again. This will help make it easier to pull off.
Eventually that won't work anymore either. You will need some chemicals. I can't recommend WD40 enough. I've used all the sticker removal specific stuff like Goo-Gone, and it doesn't work NEARLY as well as WD40. Just spray liberally onto the area itself or onto your microfiber. Hold your microfiber to the area to let it soak for a few seconds, then rub back & forth across the glue. Keep it nice & wet with WD40, and it will all come up. You might have to use your fingernail through the microfiber to "scratch" the residue for certain stubborn areas, but it will all come up. Keep applying more WD40 as needed to keep it wet & lubricated.
Afterwards, clean up the WD40 with some quick detailer or just wash the car. Detail the area with whatever you would normally do... clay, polish, wax, etc.
Here's how mine came out. You can't see any residue whatsoever (car has 24k miles). I'm probably going to add a new Mt Fuji emblem to the back, relocated to the middle, but I'm rocking it naked for now.
Good luck!

Sweet. I'll leave Mt. Fuji, the rest will be gone, baby gone.
I love these little mods that just take some elbow grease and time. At this point my G $$$ fund has taken a hit.
Brakes are next (after I finish my spoiler contemplation) and it isn't a pretty picture at 4K plus for all four corners. Plus it can wait as I have no issues with the OEM brakes. Basically, it's just to be a show-off if I'm being honest with myself.
Thanks,
Sean

Did mine after purchase. As Aliin stated, use dental floss and come right off. Did not use a heat gun...just used Goo-Gone for Automotive use and took residue right off like it was never there.

I'm not saying don't follow the better more thorough guides above, but I just used my hands and goo gone. Poured a little of the GG over the letters to be removed, let it sit there for a couple min, then worked each letter side to side until they came off. Worked like a charm and I was all done in 5 minutes.

If you leave the Fuji where it sits it will, IMO, be too high on the trunk to appear balanced. I would suggest lowering it just a bit or perhaps using a larger Fuji and installing it a bit lower.
If you don't mind me asking, what sort of brakes are you going with? I upgraded to Akebono's and my first set ran me $650 installed with trading the OEM X set up. Second set ran me $800 for the calipers and lines, more for paint, and.... Maybe $650 for rotors and pads but I would need to check. If you aren't opposed to going used you should be able to find a decent deal. I know the guy I sold my set to just sold them as well though they were painted white with blue Akebono stickers so maybe not everyone's taste.

I MOVED MY BRAKE DISCUSSION TO THE 'BRAKE AND SUSPENSION' SECTION SINCE THIS IS A DEBADGING THREAD. JUST TO KEEP EVERYTHING NEAT AND CLEAN.

I wouldn't trust myself with a heat gun
I just used waxed dental floss and goo gone, then cleaned, clayed and polished the area with Meguiar's stuff. I'll give WD-40 the next go around if I decide to black out the emblems.
Here's a pix after debadge and getting bigger exhaust tips installed

^ LOL, someone earlier in the thread indicated a heat gun... I know I wouldn't ever use one...
I plan on moving the Fuji when I black the emblems...I'd rather tackle it once, but ya it'll get done.
