Oil & Grounding

OK, long story short. Bought my first Infinity in September ('09 G37xS), and love it. A moth after I bought it, I was rear ended by Larry, Daryl & Daryl in an '95 F150. Car was down more than 2 1/2 months for repairs. So I am now just really getting to know the car.

Question #1: Car just turned 100k miles last weekend, and is due for my first oil change (Infiniti dealership did one right after the accident). They (the dealership) are telling me I should not do Full Synthetic because of the teflon coating on the rockers (wont stick), and that they recommend Synthetic Blend. I cannot find anything on here confirming this. Comments?

Question #2: Car idles a little rough. Also on a cold warm restart, it will start, then immediately die. Restart is never a problem. Would a grounding kit solve the rough idle?

Thanks.

1) Utter BS. Use any oil you like, including full synthetic.
2) Probably not. Grounding isn't magic. If you have an issue that's making your car idle rough, find out what that is and address it.

I'm a n00b here and still researching the car I wish to purchase in the next couple of months but from what I've read, you may want to try cleaning your MAF sensors and throttle bodies with their respective cleaning solutions as a way to fix your idle issues. There's a few DIY's in that section.

Yup. Rough idle is most definitely dirty throttle bodies/MAF sensors. There's a DIY on here for the throttle body cleaning.

As for oil. Your dealer is feeding you total BS. Use any oil you want so long as it's the proper weight.

I had a rough idle, cleaned the throttle bodies, seafoamed and installed a BB grounding kit. Between the three no more issues.

My dealerships tells me regular correct weight 5w30 motor oil is fine.

I would look into throttle body and MAF

More importantly at 100k you should be doing the plugs.
