the "fun" in cars is totaly up to the owner i owned a 91 civic si hb back in the day thought it was fun as hell i didnt care about the car and beat the crap out of it.
Wouldnt do that to my G but that doesnt make my G less fun, anyhow if you like the gti i say go for it life is too short.

I have to agree that the S is a different car. It's also a disadvantage in a way because you don't want to change anything about the way the car steers/handles/stops. The Journeys are definitely more 'moddable'.

Of course I have. I love my G. Don't get me wrong. I've been a Nissan/Infiniti guy since 1990. Maximas. Gs. Ms. Altimas. The GTI is a great car as well. The R even better. $700 tune and you're in sub 4 second 0-60 territory with the R. And the GTI has the M/T option as well if that's your thing. But the DSG is quite excellent.

You'd rather start with the model that has an open differential, sliding piston calipers, a slower steering ratio and less bolstered seats

My problem with the GTI is there is no disguising its FWD Golf roots, it just can't put down power like a RWD or AWD car.

I think I may have started the fun debate....lol. As stated, I have owned 3 modded g's and a 2015 gti.
No disrespect to the g....its awesome. My point was the lightness and solidity of the new gti platform begs you to beat it in a way that my 13 g37s doesn't. If ya haven't driven the latest gti do yourself a favor and go beat on one around some turns. There is a reason it won MT car of the year.
That said, I still love the luxury, power, and quality of the g. Either car is a win.

I meant more moddable in that there are more things aftermarket/OEM you can add and tinker with....The sport does not need much other than a rear spoiler and maybe an exhaust. Personally, I would not want to change much else about the car. The Journey is more of a blank slate.

Since the BBK is shared with the Z pad choices are almost endless. To do the same on the Journey you'd have to swap calipers, which is what, a grand plus labor?
The hardware upgrades on the S--steering rack, LSD, brakes, etc.--provide a much better canvas for modding, since you'd want to upgrade all those on the journey anyway. The steering alone is worth the price difference.
