Thumbs up Sedan Badge Options - Polling Thread

About a year ago, I debadged the G37S off my trunk. It's funny and a little embarrassing how that simple mod actually took an act of courage, but I suspect most people here would agree... it's not something you do lightly. For some reason, it carries with it a huge, wildly disproportionate amount of consideration.

So here's some more.

Below are four pictures of my car. The first one is current state, whereas the next three are shopped. And the fifth is a shopped version of another member's Moonlight White sedan that has been modded and Skyline'd. Go ahead and vote your favorite. Discuss, comment, suggest, whatever.

1. Fuji and Infiniti

2. Fuji only, centered

3. Letters only

4. Bare trunk

5. Skyline

Just letters (INFINITI or SKYLINE) looks awkward to me, but I like mods that could still pass off as factory, so take it FWIW I suppose

Just Fuji also looks a bit strange, too much negative space

The way you have it now looks fine, but I like the G37S back there.

If I could convince myself to do it, I think the best looking combo is SKYLINE and 370GT with the Fuji emblem, but not sure I could get over the clashing of the brands

Something to think about, the G sedan is one of only a few cars to have the rear license plates mounted to the bumper rather than the trunk lid, so we're working with an exceptionally large canvas, making debadging/rebadging a little more complicated

Yes! I've been trying to articulate what it is about the lone Fuji that doesn't look quite right (to me). The phrase "too much negative space" nails it. I suppose another option would be the Fuji-only approach, but with an over-sized Fuji. Anyway, thanks, man.

I do like current state. I like it a lot. However, I'm also drawn to having just the INFINITI letters and nothing else. And every now and then, I get it in my head to do the same, but with SKYLINE letters; (which cost about $40+ shipping, at Z1Motorsports.com.)

There is no wrong answer.

I like the Skyline myself. Am tempted to do it but haven't decided yet. Certain,y there are the arguments back and forth about it not being a Skyline but, whatever.

I think if you were going to go fuji only I would suggest a larger fuji than the standard G fuji.

Right now, for me, I'm going to keep it blank. indecision is a difficult thing.

I guess I just don't understand the g37s debadge. It's a package we paid for so why not try to differentiate it a little bit more from the everyday business woman's ride of choice? A silly way of thinking yes because who really cares what others think about your car (or who is driving it) but to be honest if come across a g that's not modded in some way I usually don't even blink when I see them on the road (which is quite often).

Sure man, back-2-stock is a completely valid opinion.

But it's not an option that gets a vote. Can't change the list, even if I wanted to.

There are two other options I didn't put up: Fuji-only in original position, and Letters-only, moved up. The way I see it, the Fuji is an organic shape, and alone on the trunk it looks better within the space defined by the bottom crease and the top trunkline. However, the letters are an horizontally straight shape, functionally perceived left to right, and are better defined by the line drawn with the crease. Design mumbo-jumbo from someone without credentials, but I think it makes sense.

Here's what they would look like. The Fuji only in OEM position is not right in the right space.

...and the letters centered to the upper space just looks awkward.

There are some around me that have ordered the QX-80 rear emblem and replaced the smallish Fuji symbol with the larger Fuji symbol. It really looks good IMO, has just the right balance of "negative space" to emblem.

Car is looking good, Rochester!

I agree with aroundtheg37. I had the same dilemma but I decided to debadge everything except for the G37S. Originally I had just the mt fuji but became tired of that. Ended up removing the mt fuji and just going with G37S with the G37 in black and the red S. Hope this helps your decision.

That's right. Can't believe I forgot that. And you're right, it fills the space real nice.

That large Fuji is $30+shipping at OrderInfinitiParts. (click here)

It would look like this (below), and should really be another option, IMO. Oh well, can't change the list.

It's a bit funny, at least for me, the longer I look at each option the less I like them all

Agreed. I see soooo many G37 Journeys it isn't even funny. I'll generally look twice if I see a modded G or an S, as the S package really differentiates the car into, IMO, a true sports sedan.

FWIW, I look past the base 335s too, as the versions with the Sport or M-Sport packages are easily distinguished.

That is what I'm currently rocking. I've considered moving the Fuji down to be more centered and/or going with a larger emblem, but haven't been motivated enough to do it.

Maybe it's because I don't have the optional spoiler, but it doesn't strike me as that out of place, perhaps because I had the chrome duckbill spoiler color matched so the space is more continuous. Or maybe it's because I don't have as critical an eye for aesthetics as you Rochester

I'm sure that changes things up.

One thought that occurs to me is there's no forever decision here. I've been without the G37S for over a year now. Maybe this year I can ditch the Fuji and just go with the Infiniti letters. And next year I can ditch the letters too, replaced with a single Q80X Fuji, centered.

For some reason, i dont think the larger Mt. Fuji suits the trunk that well. It looks way too big for that space. I actually like the original fuji with infiniti letters John!

I like either Infiniti with Fuji or completely badgeless. I'm not quite sure why you'd wan't "S K Y L I N E" on the back.

Oh, lots of reasons. Old debate.

Basically, it comes down to this: for lots of people, myself included, they're more comfortable thinking of the G as a Nissan.
