G37 back as Q40

Why the G is a 2015 Q40
As for why the G is still available, Vice President Ben Poore had previously said that having both the Q50 and G37 on the lot "creates room to strategically offer the a repositioned G37 at the lower end of the near luxury segment in addition to the higher-positioned Q50. The two vehicles aim at different market segments and allow us to serve different customer needs."
Then Michael Bartsch became the vice president, Infiniti Americas, effective in September 2013. He succeeded Ben Poore who left the company to pursue other interests. He was interviewed by Car and Driver and said Infiniti dealers were often acting like Nissan dealers, and selling the brand’s cars to a price. The Q40 allows Infiniti to wean its dealers off bad habits by giving them a single car to advertise on special. The weekly deals in circulars aren’t a path to lofty profits and residuals for a luxury brand for Bartsch, who was previously an Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Porsche Cars North America, Inc.
The Infiniti G was previously sold in great numbers because it's sporty exterior was designed with equally sporty performance, but it's sporty handling was also awesome. For now, in 2015, I not surprised to see a new G37 that just gets re-badged as the Q40 Sedan. But product changes are coming.
A big turn in 2015 for the Q40 is the Premium Package is not offered by itself, you now have to get a Navigation Plus Package to get the features of the Premium Package, which will push you even closer to the Q50 price range. You'll pay even more just to get a moonroof. There is no Technology Package in the Q40, so now you can only select a Moon Roof and/or the Navigation Plus Package.
So soon, the Infiniti product line of G37 Sedans, and any one who liked the options to buy them in new 6MT and Sport Trims will be just a memory; likely so as not to compete with the similarly sized Q50S and future Q50 model improvements.
