G37 vs Q50 Buy?

OK. Sorry if this is a "rusty" subject, but:
1. Should I buy a new Q50 versus G37?
2. WHERE do I find new G37's?

Thanks,

GF

1. Your preference.....there are several threads on the forum to compare and contrast between the two cars.

2. Infiniti does not manufacture new 'G37' anymore, you can shop for a 'Q40'. Autotrader or truecar would be good starting point of reference.

the "new" G37 or Q40 are limited trims with no sport package.

What are you looking for in a car?

Not to mention the Q40 is only available in 4 colors....and no more manual.

I'd say Q50 Sport. They look sweet, and have a bunch of technology in the car.

That technology has been problematic though. It'll take awhile for most of the bugs to get ironed out, I'd suspect.

OP, if you're looking for a 6MT, you'll have to look elsewhere, unless you can find a used G37S somewhere. But if that's not an issue, you'll have to decide between the Q40 and Q50. Test drive both, and prioritize what you want from a new car.

I'd wait another year or so before getting a new model. The rule of thumb is to wait until the 3rd year of a new car so all the bugs can be worked out.
We have a dealership who had 3 new G37 left about a month ago. If you really want a new one, I have to ask why.

Is it worth the depreciation to be the first one to fart in it? How would you know someone didn't fart in it during a test drive?

the Q50 in my opinion requires refinement, especially the central electronic panel... the review aren't good comparing to G37 - the "ultra reliable" .

remember, it's your car, just like any of us who loves G37 every single day - there is a reason for it, on this forum you dont find people constantly asking "why is my left panel can't unlock" that sort of questions on the "bimmerfest" :-)

good luck with your choice.

I really love the Q50's design and lines, however, the infotainment system is a hot mess. There is functionality that is duplicated and it's not at all intuitive about how things should operate. With the G37/Q40, you can pretty much figure everything out on your own in about 5 minutes, because it operates the way that you think it should. There are a LOT of wrinkles in that system that need to be ironed out...I would start over honestly. I don't know how they can improve it in a mid model refresh without completely re-thinking everything from the buttons to the UI.

Also, there are new power train options rumored for the mid model refresh so I'll be waiting for that before I decide to even think about picking one up. I'm hearing 3.0 liter tt V6. VQ37 / 7AT is good but there's lots of room for improvement there, especially on power / torque and fuel economy.

I would say drive both and pick the one that speaks to you.

I personally would wait a year or two until you step up to the Q line. Good luck!

I've had a Q50 several times while my G37x has been in for maintenance. I agree about the infotainment. Today, the radio wouldn't turn off while the "apps" were loading as I started the car. The controls are complicated, but less so than the 2010 Audi A4 I owned before the G, and I did get used to them after a few weeks.

The G50 doesn't have that rough-sounding ROAR when you put down the pedal, but it seems to have a little better acceleration. There are a lot of small improvements I like, such as being able to set the cruise control to a specific MPH. I like the seats a little better than those in my G (standard seats in both).
