bye bye 7at

After only 6 months of owning my first auto, its time to enjoy driving again.
Traded in my graphite 2011x7at for a white 2011sedan 6mt with only 36k/24 miles
Glad i didnt take much of a hit$.
Any tips for the 6mt are welcome.
One question though, what different size tire setups can i use besides 245 45 18 rear and 225 50 18 fronts?

Swapping out the clutch return spring for ~$10 is easy and makes driveability much better.

There aren't many alternatives for the stock 18s that aren't going to increase sidewall height too much (thus increasing roll) or reduce sidewall height too much (thus exaggerating tire:fender gap).

Your best bet would be either good summer rubber, Bridgestone Potenza S04 or Michelin Pilot Super Sports, or upgrading to larger diameter wheels.

I'm not selling them, Mike. That **** was made by LatheWerks.com. However, I am really pleased with the modification, and on-target with the OP's request for things he can do with his 6MT.

If you like, I could glue a little red turtle to the top of the ****. Would that be balling?

Thanks. I'll probably try one or both clutch mods ive read about. Is the slave cylinder failure a forgone conclusion? Has anyone not had it happen? How much does it usually cost?

Your right that **** is sweet! Appears we have the exact same car Rochester, wonder how many 6mt sedan owners graduated from the 6mt maxima like us? Seems like quite a few.

No, the CSC is not a guaranteed problem. Is it a potential issue, yes. There are a high % of 6mts on this site, probably more than the ratio of MT:AT production, so the issue gets exaggerated. Nobody joins to say they haven't had an issue, but people will join to say it went out, the dealer screwed them and it cost $$$$.

No. Assuming my dealership was truthful, mine was their first. It was warrantied, but would have cost $1500 otherwise, IIRC. Most of that is labor, because you have to drop the transmission.

I suspect that's a pretty common progression. The G37S Sedan 6MT is everything we tried to make our Maxima 6MT into, but done properly with RWD and a better chassis... among other things. It's a fantastic car. Welcome aboard.

My 2001 Mustang Bullitt GT came with a factory installed brush aluminum shift ****. I used to keep a glove in the car for the hot summer days when the shift pattern would be seared into the palm of my hand like the **** in the Raider's of the Lost Ark.
