Hood insulation

This pad is shot and I am wondering if I can remove without any damage to the hood clear/paint or if I should just pick up a new one. I have read countless threads about cars being fine while some are not plus all the sound/fire/etc. claims. I know a lot of people remove these when strut braces or intakes are put on. I just want real word feedback from this car only, and how long have you had it off and any impact to the hood. I took it off for a day and it didnt get as hot as sitting in the sun. Thanks for the feedback.

I took mine off several months ago and haven't had any issues. I noticed a slight increase in engine sound, but I'm straight piped from the resonators so I don't hear the engine much. also for what it's worth, several cars come without the insulation, including 350z's and possibly the 370 as well.....

Here's a lot of information on this, including my own opinion on it.

I've had mine off for awhile, no issues.

Neither my subaru legacy GT or ram air trans am had a hood liner. You'll be fine without it.

Thanks for the info. I read that thread before, was just seeing if more people who had it off for a long time would give some input. As both the g and z have aluminum hoods, it seems good to go.
I didnt notice any noticable changes in sound the day I had it off. Hood felt hotter after parked in the garage for awhile when the heat rose when it was off (or warm I should say)....but still cooler than a sunny day in a lot with it on... That is untouchable.

Mine's been off for 14 months and 6000 miles.

That other hoodliner thread sucks. The pics are amateur and the OP is a smartazz.

Let's also not forget the obvious performance advantage of removing the hood liner. I didn't weigh it, but I'd guess it is at least a pound, maybe 2.

Airflow is possibly better as well. I removed mine with no issues. The logo on my engine cover has come of randomly. I am not sure if it melted because of the cover removal or it is unrelated. Looks better too

Been off for a few days. Hood is cool after driving and it feels warm after sitting in the garage for 10 minutes. Def. not hot like car in sun hot. Think the paint will be fine.

Airflow... Not what I was looking for or how much more it will get. There is weather stripping all around and a cover underneath our cars. I heard of people with other cars removing the rear weather stripping (closest to the windshield) but im good the way it is without dirt in the engine bay. Just didnt want to have to buy a new pad if not necessary.

Thanks for those who responded.

A master mechanic told me to leave weather stripping because it helps getting engine to operating speed and for ac lines to draw air... Or something. I just left them on but removed liner. I can only hear engine sucking air at WOT.
