Warranty replacement?

Hi all myg37' folks,

I got my 2011 G37x back in February from a dealer only auction. I realized there were imperfections on the interior of my car such as, fine scratches on shift ****, fine lines on the door trim on both passenger and driver side, and even fine scratches on the shift **** panel itself.

Are all these covered under "Basic Warranty", or is this considered wear and tear?

Sounds like normal wear.

There's also a 1inch tear on the bottom of my rear passenger seat ( bottom meaning, where the the calves touch the seat area) ,,....i doubt anyone would purposely tear it, would that be covered?

"Technically" they are wear and tear but it really depends on the advisor. My trims were replaced under warranty.

I would be shocked if any of that was covered under warranty.

You say you bought the car in February. When did you notice these "issues"? Are you under the impression they were there from the previous owner? Not to be an ***, but it sounds like you should have inspected the vehicle in more detail when you purchased it.

With that being said, I suppose it wouldn't hurt taking it to a dealer and trying to get it covered. The worst they can do is say no.

with all the fine scratches you mentioned you should have bought a brand new car instead of used, but even those will come with some fine scratches

Took my car in for similar wear and tear scratches but my service advisor covered it under warranty. Got some new trim, arm rest since the chrome was peeling and it had an oil stain, and they also swapped out the middle part of the steering wheel since it had some weird scratches on it. Best bet is to just see what the dealer can do for you.

Omg, that's the reply i'm looking for.

I noticed you're from long island, which dealer did you go to? My arm rest has some weird leather black fade.

I'm from Brooklyn.

To all those that replied, I got my car at an auction. I couldn't even look at the car because only the dealer were allowed in to bid.

Just like everyone else said, these are considered "normal wear" and are not "covered" under warranty. But depending on the service adviser, they may be replaced (discretionary of course). I got lucky like some above and got most of my trim pieces replaced before under warranty before it ran out.

My sense is that if you’re a good customer at a dealer who wants your continued business they may cover such things. But it doesn’t mean they have to under warranty.

I just got my door arm rest replaced under warranty as well as a new center console lid because the chrome was peeling away. I wasn't sure it they would replace it but the service manager was really cool and said "they pay us to fix stuff so sure we'll replace it."

Have you tried bayside? I've heard there pretty cool, and I think they used to sponsor g35nyc so they might be more willing to help. I went to competition in smithtown but that's a drive from you.

I called first just so they knew what I wanted before I got there. My dealership had 4 service advisors so I'm sure you can just drive up and they won't turn you away.

i called bayside infiniti, the service advisor said to just book an appointment and they will look at it.

I'm not great with negotiating though.

In regards to the tear in my rear leather seat in the bottom, i had my g/f stitch it back up, but I doubt they'll replace that. It's fine, but I like to make use of my warranty as much as possible and replace driver/passenger door panels, arm rest, and possibly navigation dash panel.
