Well I'm glad that they are doing something with the Q and it's about time. Aside from HP and Torque increase I wish they would do something about the lazy shifting tranny.
That's not suprising because any owners will defend their new purchase. When you insult their car you are essentially insulting them for buying it. And many bought it because it was the new model rather than waiting to see if it was worth buying.

Is it possible some owners really like the vehicle and have a notion of how it compares to the competition without being defensive? Or must they hold the views of car and driver?

Hasn't BMW achieved the same with the current 3? Those pigs are no where as fun to drive as the old ones they replaced.

Pretty much every publication/review has complained about the steering on the Q50.

Pretty much every publication/review raved about the steering on the G37S.

I don't think it is a coincidence they are making revisions

LOL....

Either Infiniti misjudged the market and the market doesn't want what Infiniti thinks they should want.

Or

Infiniti screwed up with the new design and they're listening to the market.

The thing I don't understand is how everyone believes what these magazines and blogs say. You know the ones that spend hours maybe a couple of days with the vehicle but don't bother to ask the owners. We have sold about 200 Q50s to date at my dealership since launch (we mostly sell qx60s n qx80s in my area) and I'd say 40% had DAS. You want to guess how many of those owners hate the system? I can't name one, even the 4 we had that we had to replace the DAS because of the recall still love it.

I actually had some one drop theirs off last week for service and made a comment when he dropped his loaner off that he missed the steering in his Q50.

My point is 95% of the people that speak ill about the DAS are just going by here say or go to drive a Q50 with their mind set that they aren't going to like it. Watch the CNet ( I believe that's the one) video review and the guy praises it. It's precise and accurate.

It's a new technology and until a brand like BMW or Audi or MB do it, the reviewers are gonna bash it because they Are not used to change or spend some real time in a vehicle with it.

On a side note, Cadillac just said that in 2016 they will launch a car the steers itself, a "new technology", guess non of there engineers has driven a Q50. I mean it's only steered its self doing 70+ on the autobahn with no one in the drivers seat.

Why are they changing it on the Sport ( and I'm sure DAS is staying in the Deluxe touring and above), we'll because if you don't get one with DAS, the steering is. Not as sporty as the old G. The electric assist is there for fuel economy, I mean the 3.7 gets 28 on the EPA and over 30 in real world out of a 3.7 328 NA.

And the people that want a premium feel (majority of the luxury buyer) in their steering because the Audi, Mb! Lexus and Cadillac they are coming from, that's what they are used to. Us, the people on this forum and the other 4 guys a month that buy a luxury sport sedan because we want a SPORTS sedan, want a sportier steering system.
But most of us don't need all the Extra stuff that comes when you get DAS. Most are happy with the body kit, sport seats, wheels and brakes. A lot of the sport guys don't want the car to stop its self and keep you in the lane and steer its self. We just want a sports car.

The majority want comfort, the minority want sport. The majority of the people that buy DAS equipped Q50s, use the features extra features.

So we have some dude on cnet, dealers observations, and people who drive and test cars for a living

Based on the article, this is only for the S. Of the 200 Q50s you've sold, how many have been the S version?

It's a bummer my car hasn't been back to the dealer in the 2 years I've had it. If I do have to take it in, I'll be sure to tell them how awesome it's steering is, and that it is easily on par with my wife's old E90 sport, although not quite as good as a Boxster S, which is my personal benchmark for steering feel.

Now I will be the first to admit that it is unbelievably retarded that infiniti screwed up the packages so much. If anything they need to add memory seats, sonar, tilt/telescoping steering wheel, back into the lower levels just like a G had in the premium package. And remote start. I mean come not the frigging Altima has it! And if your not gonna ditch the RFTs, at leases get some sportier ones on the 19s!

Funny, but I just spec'd out a Q50 earlier today and I was amazed at how silly the packages are handled. You can't get the Tech package without the Deluxe Touring Package and that includes the DST.

It reminds me of Acura/Honda and their package layouts and that's not a good thing!
