broken cup holder

Just wanted to verify if this information is right, I was told by Infiniti dealer that the cup holder (mine is broken) is not under any warranty not even the elite protection plan??

It should be considering it wasn't broken under abuse

If it's physical damage, then that is correct.

No abuse here, I only put some change in there and one day when I press it to open it didn't open at all lol. They wont replace it they are asking me $175 to replace it, lol I have read that a lot of ppl were having problem with that too.

Try another dealer perhaps? Sounds like they aren't being too helpful. The elite should cover all defects bumper to bumper minus a few key items

Dealer covered a replacement of the cup holder cover for me because it didn't have the chrome piece on it. Sounds like they're just trying to avoid the repair

Mine broke a month or 2 ago, I was unable to open it by pressing down and I have to pull up to open it as for closing it i have to slam it down really hard for it to lock.

I simply told the service manager and it was easily approved for warranty, told him I would come in next service to have it fixed which is this thursday.

So there is really no excuse for your Infiniti dealership not to approve it.

FWIW, I'm from Canada, not sure if policies are different between countries.

I gave a friend of mine a ride the other morning and he pulled up on my cup holder instead of pressing down. I almost threw up when I heard the snapping plastic sound, thinking it would be expensive. Thankfully it still works.

$175 is outrageous, I hope they decide to help you out.

Mine was fixed under warranty. The service manager captured it as "cup holder fails to return to original position" or some nonsense like that. He said that if he captured it as "broken" it wouldn't be approved.

There's 2 infiniti dealer here and none of them want to do the repair, both of them ignored my request and ask to pay.

I'm going tomorrow for an map update and I will ask them again. I know the elite should cover all the defects bumper to bumper but I still get the big NO.

Couple month ago the car wouldn't start at all, I had the rep on the phone while trying to start the car, tow truck came the car started after 3h of been park. Sometime the destination, route, map button will fail to return to their normal position, they will stick and I have to use a card or use my nails to stick it out, I mention it to them and apparently they fix it but I'm still having the same problem 2 month after lol

when I brought the car to the dealer ship they said nothing was wrong with it lol.
and that is the reason why I bought the OBD2 scanner haha.

Haha I'm from Canada too, im in Ottawa Ontario, I think they are getting tired of me with all those repair. the most expensive repair they've done to my 09 g37xs was the replacement of the cruise control sensor and radio, the bill came up to over $10 000.

Would you have the correct term because what I may do is drive to Montreal (2h away) and have the infiniti dealer look at the car, or have them do an inspection.

I just came back from the dealer ship got the map update in 47 min, I did mention everything mentioned above about the cup holder, their response was the cup holder is only cover under the basic warranty, under 100 000 km only not the extended and the extended mostly cover mechanical stuff like power seat ext .

And also the Nissan/Infiniti dealer is for sale too

If they can't cover it, you're better off just ordering the part online then and DIY. The cup holder is a complete unit, i think. Correct me if I'm wrong.
