census on sedan to IPL

Somewhat. I want to see what are members think of this concept. Some folks believe that since they have the IPL model it's the in all in performance from infiniti. I'm just trying to get a feel for those others (like myself) that badging is somewhat misleading considering the badge means I have a model that Infiniti "beliefs" is a proforma nice line. Which clearly isn't the case one a few subtle mods to a sedan is either equal or faster than the IPl. Again not tying to start a flame war. Jude would like the polling to predict the outcome of the general members options.

No not really. Lets objectively look at what the IPL has offer over the G37s as far as perfirmance, what does the IPL do (in performance) that makes it so much more ($$) than the G37S? Yes there are a small amounts of vararions, but nothing when Compared to the the M3, M5 or audi's r spec. IMO It's just so lack luster. Again please no flame war. I just trying to get opinions.

An IPL is simply a tuned G37. It has several mods that exist in the G37s coupe, but goes beyond that. Stock for stock, an IPL is faster than a g37s coupe because it has a more aggressive tune, a different exhaust, and slightly different suspension.
Both the sport coupe and the IPL have VLSD's, tighter steering ratios, and stiffer sway bars.
An IPL has additional cosmetic differences over a base model, as does a sport. There is a base bumper, a sport bumper, and an IPl bumper, the IPL also comes with special side skirts and a rear bumper, different seats from the sport and base model, and additional engine cover badging and body badging.
It is easy enough to mod any g37 to be faster then a stock IPL. I don't see the point of buying the factory performance model, the tearing off everything "performance" about it, and replacing it. I would much rather buy the lower model and replace things that way.
I bought a sport over a base model because there were things I wanted that would be more expensive to add aftermarket to a base model. There was nothing in the IPL that I couldn't exceed or add in with aftermarket parts. I replaced my exhaust, got a tune, And Debadged the car. I left the tighter steering ratio, left the VLsD, and the sways (for now).

I like the idea of a higher performing G, but wasn't impressed with the execution of the IPL. Car and Driver tested one, and it didnt offer any advantage in acceleration until 90 mph, and even then, the differences were fractions of a second.
The added cost of the IPL, relative to it's performance gains, just go to show what a tremendous value the G37S is. If you're looking for better performance or more visual distinction the 'base' G37S and your mods of choice are a better value.
As for resale value, I'd be surprised if IPLs are pulling in enough more to offset the incremental up front purchase price, but I haven't really researched that

I stripped all my emblems off the back. I was looking for some black chrome ones but apparently the are hard to come by unless you do it your self. I certainly wasn't going to put a IPL emblem on the back but thought about going with the IPL side skirts and maybe the front bumper. As one person already said I even was thinking of a Infiniti Performance Line licence plate cover.
