Dual Zone Climate Help

Hi all, new to the forum. I purchased a 2010 G37X back in March and have finally come to the conclusion that there may be an issue with my G37X Climate control Dual zone system. In this car, if I set it to dual and set the temps at 65 on driver and 75 on the other, its blowing the same cold air on both sides, same speed, with the setting on auto or manual. Now if I set the temp to 60 & the other to 90, then dual zone works. I have a rental Chevy Impala that works a dual zone as it should and my 2004 Acura TSX operated the same as the Impala, if I set the temps on auto at 65 & 75, I get 2 different speeds of fan and 2 different temperatures.

I guess my question is, does your car sound more like my G37 or more like other cars? I have an appointment with Infiniti tomorrow but from the phone call, he tried to say that this was normal and that to test with the 60 / 90 setting but to me, thats not true dual zone. Any feedback you can give before tomorrow morning would help a lot

Thanks

Do you actually have a person in the passenger seat? It has a sensor to know if it needs to vary the temps a little or a lot. It depends on someone being there for a temp reading.

Yup there was, its been like this for a while. I was able to do the 60 / 90 split with only me in the car and it worked fine

Huh? Where did you get this information from? Where is this sensor? And why does it matter to the climate control system whether there's a person there or not if the temperatures are set differently?

OP, my experience in 2 different G's is that there has to be a pretty big temperature difference for it to feel different on each side. Just like you experienced. Also, there is only one fan motor for the HVAC system so the fan will always blow at the same speed no both sides no matter how the temperature is set.

Thanks for that. I figured that was the case and it explains why the speed is the same & why its harder to get a temp difference (2 temp air mixing together).

Its a rather poor design for a luxury car as the dual zone was something I really wanted out of the car! Pretty embarrassing that a Chevy Impala and an 04 TSX don't have the issue but what are you going to do!
