Infiniti Skyline....in Japan
????????? [ SKYLINE ] ??? Web???? ???
A random curiosity while browsing Nissan's Japanese website.
We all know the G series is called the Skyline in Japan, being sold as a part of their Nissan lineup. But if you check on the link above, it looks like the new Skyline (Q50) will actually be carrying Infiniti badging in Japan.....while other vehicle lines (e.g. M37/Q70 = Fuga) will maintain their Nissan badges.
Just found this interesting.

The G series can be brought as Infiniti or as Skyline 370GT in Japan
Here in australia you can only get the G and the Q50 in the Infiniti brand, now the G is branded the Q60 and the M is now Q70
The Skyline 370GT is a import only

^did AU ever call it the "370GT SP" sedan? Remember seeing a few called that when I was doing random searches. I've also seen Nissan badges inside w/ Infiniti badges out (maybe outside by the dealer?)

I never really got that. Unless you rebadge everything that has the Infiniti logo, it would just look weird, and people not "in the know" would just look at the badges going like -->

There was a guy who used to frequent a WRX meet I would go to now and again, years ago. He had to have spent weeks, and probably a good hundred or so bucks, to track down a red hazard switch for the dash. The American-sold STi had a dash-colored silver one. But he HAD to have that red one, and I know it cost him some sleepless nights. As a side note, I don't know that I've ever even used the hazard lights in any car I've ever owned...

Just tell that guy that no matter how many steps he takes to convert his car to JDM status, his VIN is still coded for the domestic car that it is, and you can’t change that.
