How reliable are these sedans compared to Acuras and Lexuses?

Hedgehog,
The brake rotors on my 2009 xS had warped slightly by 22K. It was getting bad enough that you could feel it in both the steering wheel and the brake pedal, so I had the rotors turned and that eliminated the problem. That was the only problem I ever had with the car - bought new and sold at 24K.
The dealer I bought my CPO 2011 6MT either turned or replaced all 4 rotors on the Akibono BBK's and it only had 19K. So I would guess warped brake rotors are a common effect with either type of G37 brakes. I had the same issue with my previous Acura and my wife's previous Odyssey and Accord. So far I've put 5K miles on the '11 with zero problems.

BTW, do you guys think $25k for a 2012 G37, 2WD, premium package, with 25k miles is a good deal? If not, what would be considered a fair price for a car like that?

Okay, thanks for the info! Is this the same kind of issue (warped rotors) most have experienced when it comes to brakes issues?

I've only had my G for a year and 9k miles, but it has been flawless. My wife's '13 MDX is a different story. It used 5 quarts of oil in the first 9k miles before being diagnosed with a bad valve on cylinder 5. They replaced the entire cylinder head, and now all is good. Look into the subject and you'll find that a lot of 3.5 liter Honda V-6s and 3.7 liter Acura V-6s are well known for poor overall quality. In fact there was a class action lawsuit because of it.
I will buy another Infinity and not look back, but I doubt that another Acura is in my future.

I've had my 2012 G37 since May 2013 (6000 miles then, 16,000 now). So far, I've only had regular maintenance, BUT I did have to take it in for a drivers side leather armrest replacement (it got cracked for some reason, they replaced the entire door panel) and a creaking sound coming from the windshield (which they fixed).
Other than that, no problems.

Another data point....
Owned a 2004 Acura TSX from brand new (4 miles). Babied it (always garaged, M1 oil, etc.) but decided to trade it in at 150K b/c it needed an entirely new AC system (almost 2K) and was burning oil. Neither issue was particularly fatal by itself, but in total they soured me on Acura. There is some irony that I was disappointed by only getting 150K from my Acura, but such is the reputation of the brand and my high expectations.
I've owned 2 Infiniti and 1 Nissan before the G. My G20 went 175K before a soccer mom minivan ran a red light. Great ownership experience. Our '01 Nissan Pathfinder had 130K trouble free miles before we bought our '08 QX. The QX has almost 80K miles and is running like a champ.
Will I consider an Acura in the future? Absolutely. Do I prefer Infiniti right now? Yep. Reliability/cost of ownership has been great and they're fun cars to drive. Those are two priorities for me.

Personally I've owned close to every manufacturer ...not super cars though
All my cars have been maintained properly, besides maintenance stuff I've had only a handful of issues and they were all with a 04 gm trailblazer I owned. Because of it I won't buy gm again. Granted I think with every car I had creaks rattles and suspension items needing replacing after a ton of miles, I generally don't hold that against a car. When things like head gaskets getting blown at 12k miles and a fan clutch at 18k miles....I get angry.....not to mention the other 101 things that went bad on it.

My stable currently holds a 12 infiniti g37x, 10 BMW 328xi, 09 nissan xterra...knock on wood happy with all three.
Though I'm currently at the dealership getting a new key fob programmed for the G, we lost one....not the cars fault

I've had more problems with my G than one should have in a lifetime. Thankfully, not too much engine problems, but more on the small things that'll drive you insane.
My car is a certified lemon, as per dealership said, but I love her too much to care, so I've learned to tune out the small things and just accept it.
I'm 100% with anyone that mentions how well you maintain your vehicle, but sometimes there are just things that just don't last....like my window for example. I've gotten that thing replaced about 3 times now, and it still clicks, rattles, creates a film of lubricant on the glass, etc. (replaced at two separate dealerships). Actually getting a new door panel +assembly as we speak...
Then again, my brother had a '94 Camry 5SPD, which lasted 194k miles without a single squeak, and then he sold it to a friend, whom to this day, still drives it with 300k+ on it.
I can go on forever with things that were replaced/fixed, mind you im under warranty with under 35k miles on her, but I'm not here to scare you, rather just open your eyes to the extremes of any scenario. Yes, we have amazing vehicles, but do understand even BMW's have been at the lowest of the low in terms of reliability these past few years. Imagine paying premium and getting crap after warranty is up. Now THAT hurts imo.

Biggest infiniti/Nissan engine-reliability woes im aware of were related to the older vq35de's and the oil consumption issues. To date, the vq37hr I believe has a solid track record and continue to be used in the q50.. so that says something about it.
Lexus OTOH, while I still consider it a highly reliable brand, was a bit tarnished in my opinion with somewhat recent carbon-buildup issues in their is250 DI engines...

I bought my 2010 G37 a little over 4 years ago and put 31,000 miles on it to date. I have had zero problems with the car.
I had a 5 series BMW several years ago that was a nightmare as far as reliability. I wouldn't take it out of town, on trips, for fear that it would leave me stranded. After that experience I was very concerned about reliability when shopping for another car.
I traded the BMW 540i for a Lexus G430. Never had a problem with the Lexus. It was fast and had better braking then the BMW. The BMW was a lot more fun to drive, due to its handling and feel.
The reason I went with the G37 was for the power, handling, adequate luggage space for my trips and I hoped reliability. It has been reliable and that's why I haven't traded yet for something else. I now have very little tolerance for an unreliable vehicle.
