G37 Sedan Chat Thread Meet-up
Over in the Chat Thread, we've been collecting member commitments to a Sedan-only meet-up this Spring. Figure we can use this thread as a single-source for info. Subscribe and post up if you want to attend. (Mods, please let this hang out in the Sedan forum for a while, since it's sedan-specific.)
We selected the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Pennsylvania region as a relative mid-point between Upstate NY, NYC/Jersey and the members making the effort to come in from TN, KY and VA. RexHavoc's father-in-law will be attending, maybe as shotgun, or maybe in his Classic 1960 Impala. Either way, he's a professional photographer, which is seriously cool to have at a car meet.
DATE: Saturday, April 26th. 2014
REGION: Wilkes-Barre / Scranton, PA
LOCATION: Frances Slocum State Park - Pavilion #3
565 Mt Olivet Rd, Wyoming, PA 18644. Look at the next post in this thread. Pavilion #3 is at the Southeast section of the peninsula, facing the lake. This is a free-standing structure, not a building. We have it reserved for the entire day, from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. There are two grilles available, and electricity. The building across the way are public bathrooms.
SPEC SHEET: Download and Modify
The "Spec Sheet" is just an idea I had about putting everyone's car specs on the window for the meet-up. Since it's looking like we have a pretty good sized crew of confirmed attendance, it might be nice to have a consistent, easy way to describe your car as we loiter around. Use it, don't use it, entirely up to you. It's a WORD document (.doc), so just right-click to download, fill in your own info, and there you have it.
PHONE NUMBERS: Click Here - PM Rochester for the password
SCHEDULE: 1:00 PM until ? - Park Closes at 8:00 PM
Figure we'd meet up between 1:00 and 2:00 in the Park. That gives us all afternoon to hang out, take pictures, drive around, etc. For most of the NY and NJ members, that means leaving from home at a reasonable morning hour.
HOTEL: Scranton Hilton
Chris and Kirk made reservations at the Hilton in Scranton. You'll have to ask them why they're booked in Scranton instead of Wilkes-Barre, but in the interest of keeping the group together, that's where at least four of us are staying. If you go through Orbitz, you can get pricing around $109+tax for a two-bed room.
DINNER: TBD
GUIDELINES:
Pennsylvania State Parks do not allow alcohol. So no booze, no drugs, no burn-outs or racing inside the park. We don't want to get kicked out. There's no entrance fees to the park, but let's be responsible driving in and out. Seems we're going to be having quite a picnic, because everybody is bringing something... food, drink, etc. There are picnic benches and open grills throughout the park, but it might be a good idea to toss a lawn chair in your trunk for the event. And maybe an umbrella. Use your boombox or car stereo with discretion.

Hey man, if I can drive 3.5 hours from Rochester, NY, then you can certainly drive 4.5 hours from Waltham, MA.
Chris is driving all the way from Memphis, TN with nothing but a full tank of gas and bag of hushpuppies. Beat that, LOL!
Gotcha updated, Korey with a K.

According to the Internet, which we all know is never wrong, Maryland is part of the North East, Although Im with the M*******, a little further north would be easier to get to, NY is a bitch to get though. although I can't make it in April, lots of personal things going on, maybe we can have a NE/NY meet up in the summer

Hey, original idea was for Albany(erm..i think) That would've been easily a few more hours more on average for everyone. PA is easier to get to for everyone.
And if memory serves me well, PA is actually just a south 2-3hr drop for you, Rochester, right?
