Don't agree with your statement on the G being too small to justify a sedan. I need a sedan to be able to occasionally haul an extra person or two around. The G is just big enough, with just enough rear seat room, to do the job. I would have been okay with an A4/S4 too, but the A4 was too slow and the S4 too expensive and unreliable.

I agree with you on the coupe styling - always liked the look, especially in the rear, a bit better. And they are much easier to find in 6MT. But when I drove a coupe 6MT and adjusted the seat where I could comfortably use the clutch, the drivers seat was basically touching the back seat. The 335i coupe is much better from a rear legroom standpoint, but reliability and ownership cost are big drawbacks.

I get what you're saying gsm and I respect your position, but a quick question for you. When you said you adjusted the seat in the coupe where you could comfortably use the clutch it was nearly touching the back seat correct? Now let's flip to your sedan when you drive normally and have your seat optimally positioned for clutch use, how much rear leg room is left? I would bet it isn't substantially more than the coupe... Correct me if I am wrong.

Prior to the 745 we had an 07 G35 sedan, and that was bullet-proof so we got rid of the cash-sucking 7 series and returned to the 09 G37 Sedan. My wife does in home day care and needs room to easily haul 3 kids and it's her daily driver so the sedan was the easy pick. If it was my DD it would probably more closely resemble your 6mt though

Actually it's a lot more ... just measured 7 inches to the top edge of the rear cushion. To be fair, I've installed an RJM clutch pedal on mine, which lowered the engagement point a bit. Also, the seating position in the sedan seems quite a bit different. Generally higher, and you naturally sit more upright. Or that's the way it seemed to me based on one test drive of a coupe.

The last coupe I had caused a problem when I parked against a wall in a public garage and some idiot parked too close to the drivers door for me to get in. Those big doors can be a problem.

I think the IPL coupe looks great, reg G coupes are just OK (the IPL gives the coupe some much needed boxiness to an otherwise over exaggerated Infiniti roundness). The thing with looks is the G coupe has many alternatives (in 6MT/RWD arrangement). The G sedan has a very short list of alternatives (anyone with a 6MT sedan can tell you), pretty much all of which are high-performance Euros ($$$$).

That said, I look at the G coupe community for inspiration in modding (mostly cosmetic), since the group as a whole is more active. Even in 2-door form, the G still offers undeniable value in its segment (370Z notwithstanding )

Good point about the "boxiness" - it's why I've always liked the more linear, straight edged first-gen G35 coupe far better than the softer looking, more rounded second-gen G37 version.

( feel the same way about the Z cars - I consider the "sharper" 350 waaaaaaaaay handsomer than the blockier, stubby looking 370 - just say'n ).

I agree that the Coupe community is far more active, so it's a pleasure to be combined on this board. The Q50 boards are a bit light on activity.

The only problem I have with your statement is that this info is based off of tha fact that the sedan makes 328 while the coupe makes 330. I have seen multiple dyno pulls that can't solidly prove the hp difference of a sedan & coupe. So I would add that the reason why Infiniti says the sedan makes 328hp is to also say that the coupe still has a better power to weight than the sedan even though the coupe is heavier. The ecu maps are the same.

The weight difference is around 5-10 pounds. That's about what my laptop bag weighs. Not sure this is even worth talking about as an aftermarket set of tires could add or subtract more weight than this...

You're right. If you research the spec sheets on infinityG37.com, the weight differences are negligible. I must have had that 100 pound number stuck in my head from a misinterpretation in models (AWD, RWD, 6MT).

Well, that clears that up for me. Good to know.

I suspect the added 2 ponies are a factor of the different exhausts. Anybody know why they'd be different?
