Electronic Steering Column Lock (ESCL)
Just wanted to get a heads up going on this issue, I have started a thread to document those of us who have/had the problem with the ESCL malfunctioning, leaving the car inoperable. Please document your issues if you have had them so we can get Infiniti to extend the warranty on these items as they did with the Nissan lineup (Cube, Altima, Maxima, 370Z, GT-R)

wish u luck on getting it warrantied
checked on infinitis parts estore and its listed msrp $811.55 and probably 1 hour labor to install. from the recall notice listed in alldata it doesn't seem like a hard part to replace if you know how to remove those god damn break off security bolts.

wow that sucks. are you sure they are using the same exact part on both the nissan models and infiniti models. or perhaps nissan is just doing the recall in phases because theres a lot more nissan branded cars out there with this faulty component versus infiniti models.
have you spoke with the district service manager and expressed your concern. the district rep can override the repair shops decision and get you some sort of goodwill replacement.

I talked to the regional service manager from infiniti consumer affairs, and nothing they would do, they even went so far as to say that it's an "Infiniti" not a Nissan. Yes, they share the exact same part, with the same part number. The Altima/Maxima unit has one letter different in the part number, but physically the same, while the Z & GTR share the EXACT part number. The problem is due to being over oiled from the factory causing electronic failure in the unit - per nissan
