For another $1000, you can also get a remote crowd control button.

That's like the coolest thing that I would never use. Then again, have you ever seen demo modes on complicated, custom headlights? Same thing, I guess. So... awesome feature for a car meet.

Then again, do you think it's only available for the automatic? If so, not sure how cool it is to growl out to the world that your Mustang doesn't have a clutch.
Little by little this mentality is slowly disappearing. I believe it started falling behind once cars started to come with more than 5 auto speeds.

I've embarrassed a few MT owners in with the 7AT. The New mustang and the 10r80 10 speed transmission competes does fine in the Internet Battles being that it's proven itself. The same thing will happen with the new Z. There is just no replacement.

I still enjoy MTs and whenever I can jump in a MT Z I start to do mental notes of comparisons.

Having your car rev by the fob is just a ricer's dream, this will be paired to the burble pop flame tune and boy will we have a feast of ridiculousness...

Priorities are personal, BULL. I think the joy of driving a proper 6MT far outweighs the sacrifice of a few tenth seconds in straight line speed.

Insofar as head-2-head comparisons go on the street... I haven't done anything like that in a long, long time. And with the perspective of old age, it's unlikely that will ever happen again.

Slightly off topic, but it's partly due to my age and also due to cars being so much faster overall now, that street racing is just more dangerous. I wasn't around in the 60's-70's with those higher powered muscle cars, but during my prime in the 90's-00's, cars had less horsepower on average and so racing from street light to light was more interesting. Nowadays, you can hit 80-100mph so quickly and land yourself in jail.

It actually makes me miss some of the lower powered racing because it was more thrilling in its own special way lol.

It's more dangerous because there are more cars today that are capable, but it's less dangerous because in today's cars you've a better chance of walking away from a crash. No matter how you slice it, it's dangerous, and we walk a fine line here talking about it. So... maybe we shouldn't, and it's on me (and BULL) for going there.

I've got car stories from my youth that I'm not proud of, but stories nonetheless.

Yup, sorry for leading the discussion that way. I think we all have our stories we aren't proud of.

Anyway, back to the MT vs AT thing, I've only owned MT cars whenever possible because I love the engagement, but if I ever get an M3 I would probably opt for the DCT so my wife can also enjoy it since she can't drive stick. I would only do that if I still own one car that has an MT in it though.

I don't really care about the added performance of the DCT vs MT since, like you said, it's only a few fractions of a second.

There was someone like 2 years ago with a new 5.0 with the 10speed. He put in a stupid high ratio rear end, was walking a lot of people on the highway hah.

With a higher diff it becomes the ultimate lunch money thief contender. I could imagine 1/8th and 1/4th miles would **** plenty of folks off.

I ride a dirt bike and street bike, along with having a '82 foxbody mustang that has the old top loader 4 speed. I absolutely love driving standard transmission vehicles simply for the connection you make to the vehicle. And sometimes I wish I had gotten an MT G37... However after taking the mustang out for a day or two, it's nice to hop in the automatic and relax a little bit. Drive thru lines, the touch-less car wash, being able to take a drink from my water, etc etc. Not that you can't do those things in a standard... I definitely love the MTs, but for my daily to and from work I'm happy with the 7AT.

I vote for M/T 100% of the time too due to the engagement. I drove one for the 1st time in 4 months yesterday (due to a torn disc in my back that causes severe nerve pain in my left leg and foot). I was hoping that I had healed enough to be able to drive stick. It was very painful for me with my leg and foot, but it was worth it. It was so much more fun to drive. I forgot how much I missed a manual transmission.

Aside from the lack of engagement with an A/T, I also don't like how it is much more difficult to tell your speed by feel and sound. This makes it a lot easier to get a speeding ticket.

Following up with my track prep thread post

https://www.myg37.com/forums/g37-sed...ml#post4322679

Had a blast, there was a big worry about rain but it only lightly drizzled early on and stayed dry!

Since I was using my street brake pads(stoptechs 309) and tires I didn't attack every corner 100% but still had bunch of fun. I have a 25 row cooler which proved to not be enough, looks like I'd need to upgrade cooling substantially if I want to continue to track with this car which has given me some thoughts on continuing down that path.

The stoptechs did very well for what was thrown at them.

I use Stoptech Drilled/Slotted 227 series standard (Cast iron) rotors that started their life as Centric 120 (121) blanks with 305/8 series Centric pads (a step under your 309s). This setup exhibits no noise and very little to no dust while still looking almost new going into the second year. Street performance is as good or slightly better than OEM.

What's the background on the champagne colored rotor? Caused by heat?

Getting a free cool car (TII RX7) really changed my direction in life. My G is put in storage and I started selling all the aftermarket parts I haven't put on to focus on the RX7. I think part of me thinks it's because it's new to me, but also my soft spot has always been 80's cars. I just don't have income for two cars at once! Have a lot to think about.

Keep the car that makes you happy. Doesn't matter if it's new or old as dirt.

The other day I was telling my wife about which Gen Corvette was the one that always caught my interest, which was the late model C4. More specifically, the Coupe with the 5MT in hunter green with beige leather. Anyway, I went on AutoTrader, and found one just like that, with only 24k miles and $24k. I must have stared at that listing for 20 minutes. I mean, I'm not going to do anything like that because of other circumstances in our lives, but if I were retired and looking for a new hobby...
