I plan on doing a lot of Auto-Xing. I just like that there is little to no risk of totaling your car there lol. Building a car for racing has been a life long endeavor for me, so I will really have to work my way up to feeling comfortable enough to do serious racing. It doesn't need to be the best car on the course, I just want to have fun and see how far I can take it.

I've considered a few approaches to this myself - IMHO autocross is a good thing, but spending a solid day for maybe 5 minutes total track time is limited for experience and learning potential. Best training tool for autoX, if you can find a SCCA club school, or failing that a skidpad day somewhere with a car club.

One of my racing mentors in NC (SCCA Improved Touring type racing) ran a caged, stripped Yugo with stupid wide wheels and slicks. He did it on a lark since the class the Yugo was in was mostly empty, but also to show that anything can racecar given enough motivation.

I'd love to find an unmolested NB Miata, or 350 or 370 convertible to turn into a track car. But not in a hurry so I can bide my time till used car prices renormalize.

If you are not going to Nationals and competing at that level then there is no "right car" the right car becomes any car.

If you think about it, lots of things in life are like this, you train all year long for a event that lasts barely a day.

​​​​​​​Personally for me it's a great way to release stress and do something I enjoy for relatively low cost when compared to a full on track day.

Maybe it is less appealing for me since it involved a 2 hour drive each way - so an autocross turns into a 12 hour day with some heavy logistics, and that's without considering race wheels or anything.

I agree. With the right parts, anything can be a lot faster and a lot more fun to drive. The other part of that equation is the driver. If the driver has a lot of experience and skill, then almost any car can be fast.

So Z1 partnered with Feal for a custom set of their 441 line coilovers. I may switch out my KW's for these or the Fortune Auto 510's. Technically only designed for the 370Z but the only real change if they release other sets might be a slight adjustment to the spring rate.

What's your goal? Usually using 370z coilovers the rear springs are too short for a sedan and you'll obviously need an extender to adjust the rear.

For example for Fortune Auto you have to swap the rear springs from 7" to 8" unless you want to slam it.

My Hipermax S have been fantastic though this is more of a Daily Driver spec shock with 10/9k spring rate.

I am aware as the last two sets of coilovers I have were for a 370Z. I have V3's and I had to buy the spring spacer for it since it was too low without it. Feal themselves sell them as both 370Z and G37 coilovers. Goal is a weekend track car.

IDK. I shopped it to a pic of my wheels, and still don't know for sure. Thinking...

Here's a before/after pic with what it would look like. It's certainly more "bling-y" than the original. And the billet cut look actually works well with the sprinkle slot design of the rotors. Plus, it would be something new to look at, and I haven't done much of anything with the car in a long while.

Then again, "bling-y" isn't necessarily a good thing. The original cap is much more in theme with the Hyper Silver finish.
