I'd like to, and she wants to learn. But there's no need to rush into it. And Winter is coming.
Taking things one day at a time. Today was her first experience on a 4-lane with stop lights and traffic. Over the last few days it's been just tooling around the suburban neighborhood, backing into and out of driveways, that kind of stuff.
Funny that you mention Winter is coming... I just got back from my Sister's wedding near Columbus, Indiana where it snowed during her outdoor wedding on Monday afternoon. And she got married to the Game of Thrones theme song. The snow started about 5 minutes before the wedding started and the snow was swirling around us during the ceremony... it was just like something right out of the movies. Thankfully it was a short ceremony, but it was still REALLY cold. I'm just happy to be back in my 80° SoCal weather again today.
I actually rented a Mustang GT for the trip, thinking the weather was going to be MUCH nicer. Thankfully I got to enjoy it on some twisty back roads on Sunday afternoon before the snow started on Monday. Here's a pic of the rental on Tuesday morning while I was trying to thaw it out for our trip back to Indianapolis airport.

Good story.
I will admit, every single time I get in a Mustang (any Mustang over the last 3 decades), I come away feeling like the car is cheap.
But there's something about the Bullitt where the inherent cheapness doesn't matter.
I don't know... it's still on the Next Car fantasy list as a realistic pick-up.
Costco had a $150 off deal on Bridgestones, so I ordered some 245/19zr40 and 275/19zr35 rear to go on the convertible wheels (9.0x19/40mm front, 9.5x19/35mm rear) that I'm in the process of refinishing. Decided to go with the s-04 pole position, as the reviews looked solid and it's Bridgestones UHP summer tire. Couldn't justify shelling out an extra 500 for the Michelin PS even though I really wanted to. It's just my daily.
Can't wait to have some thicker, better quality rubber on the back so I don't peel out so much when punching it or carving a turn. Mini-raced one of these the other day and got totally smoked, a) because it's got a V8 and more HP, and b) I was spinning the wheels and couldn't get any traction.
RWD on anniversary 18"s 225/50 "Uniroyal Tirepaw" tires right now:
I found the Pole Positions to better than the stock Bridgestones that came on my car but think the Michelin Pilot Sports are even better, both in grip and in ride.

Yeah, I agree with you completely. Interestingly, though, when I test drove one several years ago I don't recall the interior seeming so cheap. But, that was a 15 minute test drive and not a 5 day rental, so I was probably more intent on the driving experience and less focused on all the details. The Mustang GT I rented did have a very cool all digital instrument cluster that changed the gauge layout with the different drive modes. The Sport+ mode and Track mode settings had really cool gauge layouts that focused more on the RPM's than the MPH. If Ford ever updates/upgrades the rest of interior then it will make the bang for the buck quotient on that car very hard to beat.
The Bullit Mustang is a lot of car for the money and looks fantastic IMO (and sounds even better). And, since you don't spend a lot of time in your car and you and your wife have another car to drive, I think you would probably be able to deal with the lack of interior refinement. My Porsche has a very spartan 1980's interior and I still drive it to and from the office several days a week. My commute is only 2 miles and I get to drive some twisty back roads, so the handling and manual transmission easily trump the lack of luxury.
And good luck with your 16 year old daughter. Winter driving can be tough for a brand new driver. Probably a good idea to let her get used to it in the Subby first, before trying to teach her how to drive a manual in the RWD G.
Back in 1989, my co-worker and I were in New Orleans for a trade show, and we showed up a day early to set up at the convention. Our boss told us to rent a car for the event, so we rented a Mustang GT Convertible.
But honestly that wasn't the car we asked for. So with the rental car company's blessing we drove 50 miles to the next rental location to pick up the Toyota Supra we had our eyes on.
Needless to say, our boss was not happy, LOL But he was a genuine ahole, so no regrets.

Ya, pilots are definitely the best, but just couldn't justify an extra 400-500 for my basically stock daily.
I see the raves about Michelins all the time, but I've been severely unimpressed by their street car tires. We've tried several on my wife's CX5 and they're all loud and have tenuous grip in the wet. Back to yokohamas it was.
On the other hand, I see a lot of negative reviews of the Kumho higher performance tires. For street tires, I've had MX and MX4 on several cars and they were brilliant. I've got PS91s in the garage for the coupe 19s. I was a huge fan of their victorracer tires when I was road racing.

I ran both on my G. IMO you'll be hard pressed to tell a difference on the street. Ultimately, I prefer the PSS, but only because the S04s were toast around 10K and I was able to get almost 14K out of the Michelin so it pretty much equalizes the cost difference. But it's still a big chunk of $$ out of pocket up front.

Hahaha. Nice upgrade! The 1980's Mustang's were pretty awful. Yes, the GT with the 5 point Oh was basically a Ford Escort on steroids, so it was fast as hell for the time. But, the Mark III Supra Turbo (especially with 1JZ engine) is one of my favorite cars of all time. So you definitely upgraded IMO.

I'm running X-Ice XI3 this year, I ran Blizzak WS70 for the 6 previous years. I feel the Blizzaks were a better tire in pretty much every way so far, even used they seemed to outperform these new.

In my forty-four years of car ownership, I repeat-purchased two tires: Dunlop Direzza Star Spec and Michelin PSS3. If you have issues with Michelins, it's because you're not buying Pilot Super Sports.
