Anyone know what this door is for the coupe climate controls? I found a donor with good buttons that I'll be swapping over however I noticed this and have no idea of what it is.

That's a CF (Compact Flash) memory card slot. You use it to upgrade your Navigation Maps, and I believe you could load it up with music.

Pretty cool and unique tech, but Infiniti dropped the CF slot in 2010, I believe.

Interesting, Im wondering if the PCB is the same for newer/ w/o this slot.

I'll have no choice if I have to button swap however I would like to save that headache.

I found a compact flash card on clearance so I use that for my music now. 500 file limit on them, kinda sucks but better than nothing.

You mean, the car will only recognize 500 files on the CF card, regardless of the card's capacity? Really? That would suck.

I thought the whole point of choosing CF as removable media was CF offered a platform for increasingly larger memory sizes, and they were fast. That, and they were pretty robust.

I've got a small handful of CF cards shoved in the back of my desk drawer from old cameras. Probably a few SmartMedia cards, too. And ZIP disks, LOL.

Yep. 500 file limit, including the folders themselves lol.

What part do you need from that panel? I have an entire spare panel in my closet somewhere.

Unrelated, today I had my rear wheels off and noticed wear marks ON the rear shocks. WTF. So it looks like somehow the rear wheel rubbed against the actual shock body. All I can think of is a massive pothole / bump which compressed the suspension enough to the point where it cambered into the strut?

Oh, that's a common thing? I was worried maybe a wheel bearing was going bad or something... I guess with wide wheels its way more likely, especially under compression.

Not common, but not unknown.

re the CF card limit - my wife and I use my old ipod touch connected via USB as a music player. Tons of space and effectively worthless to steal, but plays music well on both my G and her Mazda.

So had a weekend lined up for cats, catback, diff mount, short shifter, and finishing up replacing the interior. Even had the car on stands and the demon bolt nicely lubed up with penetrant. And... then hurricane. Sigh.

On the other hand I did get the canoe in the garage and fixed the door on my daughter's play house, so work was done. But not on the car.

I may end up having my Stance coilovers I have for sale converted from AWD to RWD since I live within driving distance of Stance (TF autoworks). I had them fix the rear dampers before and they really did help me out. Plus at the price I'm selling them for I'd probably never find a deal that good for IMO one of the best setups out there.

My Tein Street Basis would be great if I was not on an aggressive setup. As is they are too soft in the rear since my wheels stick out. I cut the fenders but even with a ton of extra clearance there is just way too much rear end travel.

I spotted a very clean 07-08 G35S Sedan the other day around my side of town. Kind of surprised to see it for the first time.

But something wasn't quite right, and then I realized he pulled his rear fenders out to fit wheels with a goofy offset. They weren't terribly wide, but the offset poked and he was trying to use them anyway. And his fender lips looked like they were beat up with a baseball bat.

Made me really sad.

Probably rolled them with a wooden bat. That is what everyone used on their race cars - jack car up, insert bat, lower car, roll bat back and forth to widen fenders and roll the lip. Could look OK if done carefully by someone who gave a crap.

Eastwood I think makes a version with a nylon roller setup, but I've heard it tends to slip on painted metal so it creates waviness like you describe.
