I was at an outdoor autoshow last night, filled with domestic muscle, both new and old. As well as a few Studebakers, Hudsons, AMCs, rat rods and resto-mods. The smell of motor oil and fuel was pretty thick.

I really liked the resto-mods. Not so much the Nomaro (look it up.)

I've been trying to convince myself that I still want it (I've always wanted a 4runner and this one was in amazing shape) and that I could adjust the pedal, get an sts and it would be all good. But I don't think it's working.
I agree with Lego- this is the first I have heard anyone say that about the G 6spd. manual. Have you done anything to improve the shifter/trans on your G? I like the way my G shifts now, but it is only because I have replaced the entire clutch assembly, shift kit, shift ****, transmission mount, motor mounts, all differential bushings, and added a differential brace to finally get all the slop out of the drive line. Some cars shift well without all that work.

That being said, most trucks and suvs with manual transmissions shift horribly. Even if everything else was equal with a car, the typical long length of the shifter itself in a truck or suv really amplifies the issue.

Same. Exactly the same, actually. Although I'm still using the OEM clutch & flywheel.

The G is not an easy MT to drive. Even set up as mine is now, I've a friend who drove it last weekend and it was pretty awkward.

Arguments then ensue and I call his friend a liar (or the dealership he bought it from). He says it has an X next to the G37, but I tell him I've seen Sedans with IPL badges too.

I agree. I say, get the V-8s and manuals while you still can.

Does anyone know of system diagrams for the tech package stuff? Like, the active cruise control is parts x,y,and z different? I've been googling but I keep seeing spec sheets and not technical info.

even better if it's for the Japanese market 370gt.

One more where my Google-fu is failing me... has anyone reconfigured their cooling system into a v-mount?

Edited: V-mount is where the coolant radiator and the air charge radiator are at a V to each other. I think I'm more thinking about tilting the radiator forward/ off pure vertical to gain some space in back of it for air ducting. That would also maybe allow a larger radiator.

I must admit I like the attention my car brings me. I drove my car literally for a few minutes to test out my fenders around my area and I had a guy working in a warehouse yard flag me down in his semi-truck. Asked me a ton of questions including where I had all the work done. I haven't even really taken this thing out yet so I imagine this will become the norm.

Thats awsome, your car does stand out visually so you'll probably get more of it down the road..I for one am looking forward to see the update on your rear fenders when they are done

Is shift **** and boot replacement (6MT) something that a layman can tackle without too much risk? Or is it something that's best handled by a pro? Never really tried something like this before, although YouTube vids make it seem pretty straight forward...

Well, I did both myself, for what it's worth. Actually, I had a friend add another pair of hands with a pair of large pliers getting the **** off. Shredded the OEM **** in the process, which is to be expected.

The boot is definately a one person DIY project.

Cool, thanks. Where'd you get your shift boot, again?

Redline Goods. Perforated, four-part design, to better suit the design of the shifter trim dimensions, instead of the three-part, non-perforated,vinyl OEM boot.
