Winters in Chicago have been so mild that last year I never changed over, and had no problem on my Michelin A/S tires, even in the one 10-inch snowfall we had. 2018-19 is another El Nino winter, predicted to be mild and not very snowy so I'm not sure I will change over this year either.

Round 2 with the body shop and the Subby, and all is right with the world again. Thank goodness. They took a loss, for sure, but that's on them.
The G, however... mechanic is swamped and can't get me in for another couple weeks. So the car sits. Dead again, or effectively dead. I'm not going to drive it with the clutch pedal like this until I'm driving it to the shop.
It's been an awkward year with the G. Looking back, I think 2018 is going to be 2000 - 3000 miles. That's pretty light, even for me.

He does make that claim, yes. I had the CSC replaced at 18k miles, which is when I installed the RJM. I'm at 40k now. This time around I'm replacing the CMC (master cylinder). If the problem persists, than I'm going to move on to ZSpeed's CSC elimination kit.

I got a big F U from my car today. I was just telling my coworker how my car hasn't leaked since I plugged the driver's side sunroof drain tube. Later on in the day, I'm grabbing my take-out from my passenger side floorboard and notice how wet the floorboard feels. Long story short, my phucking passenger side is now leaking!
I real quick removed the plastic trim and pulled back the carpet to see that the floorboard had a lot of water in it. Seemed to be draining from the upper right corner of the floorboard. Looks to be the sunroof drain tube on that side as the AC drain tube showed no moisture around it.
Looks like I'll be silicon sealing the entire sunroof this weekend. Phucking hate sunroofs.

Best repair manual for this car? I've been winging it so far...

FSMs are available. I got my cd for thirty bucks or so.
As for sunroof sealing, Gorilla tape works quite well and passes the 30/30 test.

I've found the online ones, but they seem so much worse than the old manuals that I had for my 87 supra. That thing had the absolute most detailed instructions including how to rebuilt the transmissions and the tools required.

Welcome to the modern world. Fewer and fewer people are willing to work on their cars and much work now is not rebuilding but replacing. Manual writers and publishers save money creating and printing fewer pages.

The FSM is pretty good, I think. But dosen't even compare to something like the Haynes manual I have for my classic Mini. That describes in detail how to rebuild the whole engine.

Third oil change on the wife's Subaru this morning, at 18K miles. Finally got this process down right. In and out, no mess or problems, cleaned up and done... 30 minutes.
So this is me patting myself on the back.

^ We just got a Crosstrek and I was surprised to see the oil filter is on top of the engine! Seems like that would be a big mess when you unscrew it though... unless it all drains out if the car has been off for a while?
