Yea i figured he had to have not been looking.
Another reason why I LOVE my adaptive cruise control. in a situation like that it would have slammed on the brakes much earlier.

I had a similar situation in my dads q50, except I didnt have to do any input, it got off the throttle and slowed me down before I could even react myself.

I've decided I will most likely be sticking with the G. I have way too many parts sitting around to not install them (Fast Intentions exhaust, SPL front and rear camber arms, Stance XR1 coilovers).
The front coils will need to be swapped for RWD coils. I am on the hunt for a 6MT G37 Sedan. Might take a while to find the right one, but I'm looking.
No color preference, but what are some things to look out for?

I don't think the 6MT has anything obvious to be on the lookout for that wouldn't also apply to the 7AT. The weak link is the CSC (clutch slave cylinder) but it's not something you can really diagnose until it goes bad.
Make sure the rear differential bushing isn't blown. It seems the 6MT cars have a higher tendency to bust them.
Good luck

Wow. That would be awesome, Z. We'd love to have you stick around.
If you were to ask for advice, I'd say move on to another car. But I understand the appeal of sticking with the G... you really haven't been at it that long, and you've established some measure of expertise for this model which makes it a more comfortable decision.
Nothing to look out for other than what Lego said... the clutch slave cylinder is a point of failure on the 6MT, as is the rear differential main bushing. Find yourself a 2012-2013 6MT Sedan, and you'll be able to avoid worry about the timing gasket issue.
Thinking about it, really shouldn't be too hard to make this happen. For one, you don't have the sale of an existing car hanging over your head as a contingency, and your finances are certainly in order to make this happen. Another is that you're no stranger to travel, so picking up the car anywhere in the USA is do-able. And lastly, you're targeting a car that's four to five years old, with two model years of availability. That's a sweet-spot, IMO.
Should be a slam dunk. Maybe a month or so of active searching.

Z, if your in NC you will be able to find a 6MT. My search (jun-sep 2016) included the greater DC/NOVA area and I always saw 6MT's available. Unfortunately I had to purchase an X, but I know they are around. Not to bad of a drive up north for a gem.

Funny story, I actually found a Vibrant Red 6MT sedan, 2012 with 57k miles on it. Went to check it out yesterday and the car looked horrible. I was pretty disappointed.
I've decided to stick with the G because I'm not ready to get into another monthly car payment, and I didn't even get to enjoy my previous G for that long. The G37 really is hard to beat at that price range. Somewhat fast, reliable, good looking, and a great aftermarket.
I've been searching Autotrader, maybe I'll have more luck on Craigslist.

The 6MT's are harder to find... take solace you are not looking north of the border where people bought X's almost exclusively. If you don't rush, I'm sure you will come across a viable replacement, good luck!

Well, I just pulled the trigger on a set of JDM tails. Found them for a decent price, now I just gotta wait until they come in from Japan

I spent 2-3 months at the end of 2011. Found my car through AutoTrader, about 400 miles away in NJ. It had under 4000 miles on it, so basically brand new.
There are deals out there. You just have to be willing to go get the car, or have it shipped to you. Either way, there's a leap of faith to the out-of-town purchase.
