And for everyone who's said something kind here about my mom's passing... thank you very much. I don't want to come across as unfeeling talking about wheels, because believe me, it sucks. It really, really sucks. But this IS a car forum, and this is something I'm setting up as a "gift" from my mom. So I appreciate the comments and help.

She was old, guys. 85 years old. But she also had 100% of her wits about her, was fiercely independent, lived alone in the house I grew up in, and drove herself all over the place, year round. Heck of a lady. And a fantastic mom, growing up.

'Nuff said. That got me all choked up, dammit. Thanks again.

I simply don't want to drop the car, which is why 19" is my limit. However, I also have an automotive value system that makes it really difficult for me to compromise appearance for performance, so I absolutely don't want a rim heavier than OEM (which those VOSSEN's would be, by about a pound or two.)

Plus, I have $600 here in storage as two rear Michelin PSS (with only a few thousand miles on them), which I would have to sell if I went with a non OEM sized rim.

This TSW Interlagos has strong possibilities. I need to find out more, particularly fitment over my BBK, and opinions about quality.
That seems like a great price for a forged set of wheels ! let me know I might have to look into some TSW forged wheels in size 19, not really wanting to go as big as size 20 because I am going to get my car lowered on Koni yellow shock/struts and swift springs. Let me know what you find out I am curious about what you find out !

Well... forged-ish. Ish. If it were truly forged, it would be a cut monoblock or multi-piece wheel, which it isn't. There's a casting process involved here. Either way, I'm researching it, Mike.

If anyone else has any info on TSW, and specifically this 18" Interlagos rims, speak right up.

I doubt you want to cut the price THIS much, but you can get a full set of similar looking wheels for ~700 bucks.

I might jump on this option, depending on further research and weight.

Thats true... well forge-ish still seems stronger than just a regular CAST wheel and is also a lot lighter than OEM which is what I would want for sure just a size bigger than OEM duckfeet.

Sorry to hear about your mom. I know how it is.

Rims. I haven't looked too much at rims for these cars. I feel like it's a pretty difficult fit when it comes to rims and these cars. The one's that GoFight posted look pretty decent. I'll have to look more into the user rides on this site for ideas.

I've been noticing that I don't like lips on rims on these cars. Here is another.

Been out a few days, catching up on this thread before I leave town again ...

First of all John/Rochester - very sorry to hear about your mother. I lost mine in 2009, also in her 80's. Loosing parents hurts, and the pain sticks with you for a long time.

Posts a few days ago on 7AT vs. 6MT: I've owned both. I find the slow response makes the paddles of limited value except to compensate for the lack of a first gear kick-down. My 7AT was bullet proof at least for the 4 years I drove it. I agree that the 6MT could use a bit wider gear ratios, but regardless I find it more fun and engaging to drive. I think there is no question that the 6MT will be more trouble-prone. The stock clutch engagement is abrupt and high but the RJM clutch pedals helps with this. Synchros and hydraulic clutch system are trouble spots. I knew about the negatives of the Nissan/Infinity 6MT (from this forum and others) but chose to trade anyway.

The little black boxes hanging of the stock intake tubes are Helmholtz resonators, used to tune and quiet the intake sound. Good to be rid of them.

Greg

I am genuinely p1ssed off. Really wanted these wheels, but there's no way in hell I'm going to put 20" bricks on my car. I just can't bring myself to do that, and don't want to drop the car because of it. I just can't, man. That's not me.

Angry now. Need to take a step back.

Rochester: Sorry to hear about your mom's passing. But living to 85 sounds like she lived a full life.

And good luck on the wheel search! Have you considered Forgestar?

Thanks buddy. Yep, took a look at Forgestar. The F14 is a nice wheel, but it doesn't speak to me, for whatever subjective reason.

Newt took this discussion over here yesterday:

Robert, if forgestar were a religion, you'd be their most fervent convert. This is for you: Sedan Chat Thread-image-3291353053.jpg

You know, with regard to those Fast Intention RHFC's that I ordered last month... it's been over 4 weeks into that "three to four weeks" schedule. Not that it matters yet. They'll just be sitting here in the corner of my office for another month or so while Winter burns on.

Still... tick-tock.
