You are a lucky SOB. I lived outside the city for a few years. After getting suck for hours in jams too many times I just took the train into town. It didn't matter when, I _ALWAYS_ got stuck in some BS traffic that cost me an extra 30min-hr.

Am I correct in assuming this is the dreaded but not uncommon leaking rear differential bushing?

It appears to be leaking from the single bushing in the rear subframe that attaches to the rear differential.

Sure looks like it. I didn't know that was a known problem, or common enough to be dreaded. Damn. Doesn't Energy Suspension make a solid poly replacement? That's been on my list for whenever I get the rear gear swap going. Wait, here it is:

A little added NVH, but a more responsive application of power to the rear axle. In other words, this failure and repair is an upgrade opportunity, Lego. Unless you just take it to Infiniti under warranty. There's that approach, too.

*Bushing!!!, not bush.

Side benefit of the full subframe replacement is you get all new subframe bushings too. Well worth the $50/100 deductible and you maintain your ride quality.

Find out if they replace other bushings of the differential when doing this. If not, I'd pay for the parts/partial labor to do 'em since the rear end will already be out.

Yeah, I'm aware of that, and I can see the appeal in it. I have a local Z/G shop, and talked to them about it when I got the clutch bleed. $700 to swap it out. Plus the part.

And that's just it. I ended up getting the Elite Warranty when I bought out my lease, so taking it back for warranty coverage is going to cost me the $100.

If I was going to suddenly add $600 to my mod budget, IDK that a poly bushing is how I want to spend it. Hard time justifying the differences in cost.

That's another consideration, there is already a lot of NVH in the motor/trans, and I'm not committed to adding more.

I only have 28K, but it's worth asking. I can always get the rest of the bushings when I blow it again @60k

Well then... what if you decided on 4.083 gears now? How would that affect your decision?

going this Friday to give it a test drive...trying to work out a price right now. Owner is wanting a little much at $25,700. It is a really nice G though.


Anyone know what rims these are that it has though? I'm not seeing them on other Sport sedans.

If I decided on 4.083 gears I would definitely do a poly bushing. But, I'm not.

It was a last minute decision for me to get the Elite Warranty, and only because my dealer came really close to the online quote I had got, and was willing to waive the vehicle inspection.

If I didn't have the extended warranty, I'd probably try and DIY the poly bushing. Or I'd pay the $700 at Motion Lab. And maybe I'd see if I could work 4.083 gears into the equation.

Yes. Pretty common for the bushings to leak. Thus, the bushing is essentially junk.

No,no,no on the Energy Suspension. Consensus seems to be Whiteline across the G and Z platforms.

Camfantasy those wheels came with my limited edition xs sedan. Although it appears the owner might've powder coated them graphite as the original color is hyper silver.
